Requirements:

  • Lead all AR follow-up functions across Commercial, Medicare, Workers' Compensation, Personal Injury, and Self-pay, including denial prevention and appeals
  • Establish and monitor KPI dashboards (DSO, aging 90/120/180 days, WC aging by jurisdiction, denial overturn rate, net collection rate, cash acceleration targets)
  • Oversee denial management team and appeals, implement structured root cause analysis and collaborate with Revenue Integrity and Coding to correct systemic issues
  • Oversee WC AR strategy across all vendors internal/external; ensure compliance with fee schedules, OMFS, monitor underpayments; collaborate with Finance for monthly AR balancing, cash reporting, and reconciliation

Job description

The Associate Director, AR & Denial Prevention, is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational execution of all AR follow-up, denial prevention, appeals, workers’ compensation reimbursement recovery, personal injury (PI) receivables, and lien proceedings across Boomerang Healthcare (BHC). This role ensures aggressive, compliant, and timely recovery of revenue while minimizing aging AR, reducing denial rates, and strengthening front-end denial prevention processes. The position oversees internal AR teams and external vendors and partners closely with Billing Operations leadership, Revenue Integrity, Compliance, and Finance. 



*This is a remote role. We are only hiring in the following states: AZ, CA, NM, NV, OR, TX and WA.


What you will do:

  • Lead all AR follow-up functions across:
    • Commercial
    • Medicare
    • Workers’ Compensation
    • Personal Injury
    • Self-pay
  • Establish and monitor KPI dashboards:
    • Days sales outstanding (DSO)
    • Aging > 90 / >120 / >180 days
    • WC aging by jurisdiction
    • Denial overturn rate
    • Net collection rate
    • Cash acceleration targets
  • Develop AR work queue stratification models (high dollar, high risk, time-sensitive)
  • Present monthly AR performance to executive leadership and Finance
  • Oversee denial management team and appeals specialist
  • Implement structured denial root cause analysis process
  • Partner with Revenue Integrity and Coding to correct systemic issues
  • Oversee WC AR strategy across all vendors internal & external
  • Ensure compliance with fee schedules, OMFS, and monitor underpayments
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and third-party representatives
  • Collaborate with Finance to support monthly AR balancing, cash reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Assumes other responsibilities as appropriate to the position and organizational needs



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, Finance, or related field
  • 7-10+ years progressive RCM leadership experience
  • 3+ years managing AR in a high pace high volume environment
  • Strong experience in pain management, workers comp, or procedural-based specialties.
  • Demonstrated success leading billing insourcing or large-scale RCM transformations.
  • Strong knowledge of CPT billing
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with multiple EHR/ Practice Management systems (IMS, Nextgen, Athena, eClinicalWorks or similar)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables) and solid skills in other Microsoft Office applications



Compensation Range:

$130,000 to $145,000 Annually

All compensation ranges are posted based on internal equity, job requirements, experience, and geographical locations.
