Position Overview
This position will be responsible for planning, building, maintaining, expanding, and implementing technical duties in support of Hanford’s Enterprise Architecture initiatives. This position is a mission critical role within the organization, supporting the One Hanford mission.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
- Business Understanding: Thoroughly understand business concerns and objectives, including system functional, non-functional, performance, reliability, security, and growth requirements.
- Data Solution Architecture Design: Design and review data solutions to ensure alignment with business goals and technical standards. Provide detailed rationale for architectural decisions to ensure all stakeholders understand and agree with the proposed solutions.
- Solution Architecture Review: Conduct comprehensive reviews of solution architectures against specified requirements, perform risk analysis, and develop mitigation strategies as needed.
- Technology Assessment: Evaluate and propose new technologies and assess the current technology environment to understand limitations and constraints, and facilitate the selection of appropriate technologies, tools, and platforms.
- Architecture Definition and Compliance: Assist with defining and establish architecture solutions that comply with organizational policies, compliance requirements, and industry standards.
- Data Movement and Accessibility: Plan data movement through systems, ensuring accessibility and compliance with data privacy laws and accessibility standards.
- Artificial Intelligence: Design data solutions which are compatible with various AI engines to support AI related functions.
- Component Integration: Detail interactions and integrations of solution components with other systems and services to ensure seamless operation.
- Security and Recovery: Design solutions with robust security measures and data backup/recovery mechanisms to ensure business continuity.
- Maintainability and Uptime: Ensure solutions are maintainable, have high uptime, and are easy to modify and update.
- Communication and Coordination: Establish clear communication and coordination among stakeholders, developers, and teams to drive change. Provide regular updates and checkpoints to ensure alignment and smooth implementation of new opportunities and process adaptations.
- Provide technical guidance, support & mentoring for data-related projects across the organization.
- Implement and maintain data security protocols and ensure data privacy and compliance with policy & regulation.
- Establish and enforce best practices for data management and governance.
- Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst or similar role.
- In-depth understanding of database structure principles.
- Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements.
- Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques.
- Expertise with enterprise data management in SQL, Oracle, or other industry standard databases.
- Experience with data visualization, data migration and data modeling.
- Proven analytical skills.
- Able to analyze client’s needs, and design solutions to solve the defined problem. Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness.
- Provide experienced leadership and technical direction.
- Is a problem solver and critical thinker that is able to make multifaceted decisions on Solutions to meet client needs.

Physical Abilities
- Sufficient fine motor skills for the use of computers, calculators with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time.
- Visual and communications ability adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Ability to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis.
- Ability to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion.
- Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis.
- Ability to travel by vehicle or aircraft, and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and 15 or more years of IT related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst or similar role.
- Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
- Must have identification compliant with the Real ID Act at time of hire.
- Must be able to obtain Department of Energy access badge.
Salary Range: $149,700.00 - $230,000.00
