At Ameresco, we show the way by developing, constructing and operating tailored smart energy efficiency solutions, distributed energy resources, and infrastructure upgrades that drive cost savings, resilience, decarbonization, and innovation. Our comprehensive portfolio is built to address the challenges of today and adapt the future, ensuring long-term sustainability and success for our customers.

Ameresco has an immediate opening for a Senior Business Development Executive who will be responsible for originating, developing, and closing complex energy efficiency, renewable energy, and advanced technology solutions across public sector markets. This position owns the end-to-end sales lifecycle, from opportunity identification through proposal development, contract negotiation, and successful transition to project delivery teams. This role serves as a trusted advisor to elected officials and executive leadership, navigating capital governance, funding approval pathways, and procurement strategy to structure and close large-scale programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and develop opportunities for turnkey energy solutions including energy efficiency, renewable energy, distributed generation, microgrids, and performance contracting.
  • Develop and execute market and account plans to achieve annual sales and growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain advisory relationships with County Judges, Commissioners Courts, City Managers, CFOs, and executive stakeholders across public sector clients.
  • Lead proposal strategy and development, coordinating internally with engineering, finance, and development teams.
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations and written proposals.
  • Represent Ameresco at executive forums, industry conferences, and public sector events to advance market presence and thought leadership.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and contracts in alignment with customer objectives and Ameresco standards.
  • Serve as primary customer contact during the sales process and support transition to project execution teams.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting, and activity tracking within CRM systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in sustainability, engineering, economics, finance, environmental science or business.
  • Minimum 8 years progressive local experience marketing construction services, consulting services, energy efficiency, or renewable technology, including the ability to identify customer energy needs, effectively communicate energy solutions, and position Ameresco as provider of choice.
  • Proven experience influencing and leading sales and project development teams in the Southern US to meet company and business goal.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced Education (i.e., MS, MBA) preferred.
  • Proven successful business development experience cultivating, developing, and securing customers and projects in South or Southwestern US.
  • Demonstrated sales track record, including executive business decision-maker contacts, C-level sales, advanced negotiation, deal structuring, and sales contract experience.
  • Proven ability to analyze and pre-qualify customer value.
  • Superior financial planning, budgeting, organizational and resource management abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, technical, and computer communication and presentation skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, people and business relationships.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $101,00 – $161,500 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.

Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
