Job description

Job Description

Goucher College’s Graduate & Professional Studies seeks non-tenure-track adjunct faculty to teach the following graduate courses within the M.A. in Policy Analytics (MAPA) program. The course will be offered synchronously online (via Teams), starting on August 25, 2026. The instructor will be required to maintain a Canvas site for course resources.  Of particular interest are candidates who have experience teaching and engaging students from diverse backgrounds. We are particularly interested in candidates who can deepen our students’ understanding of the interactions between the practical use of analytical tools and methods for evaluating, designing, and improving public policies. Contracts for adjunct faculty are subject to renewal on a semester-by-semester basis, depending on factors such as enrollment, instructor availability and performance, and student success.

Data Ethics (3 credits)

This course provides a framework to analyze the ethical and fair use of big data. This course investigates ethical issues arising from data-driven societal decision-making. Students delve into key areas such as bias, fairness, privacy, surveillance, and discrimination, as well as data collection, storage, and management. Through case study analysis and hands-on experiments, this course will help data professionals better understand the ethical implications involved in data analytics and the use of technologies such as artificial intelligence. The class particularly focuses on policy matters and global governance standards.

  • Comfortable working with students from diverse disciplinary and professional backgrounds, including those without strong math or coding foundations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D., J.D., or other terminal degree in a relevant field, such as Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Political Science, or other social sciences, with strong quantitative method training.

  • Experience teaching graduate-level courses in data analysis, research methods, or quantitative reasoning
