The American Liver Foundation (ALF) is the nation's leading non-profit organization dedicated to liver health and disease prevention. ALF promotes education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.

PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE:

The American Liver Foundation (ALF) seeks an enthusiastic, personable, and detail-oriented intern to support and assist the Development Department in its programming, promotion, and fundraising efforts. 

The National Development Intern will support Development Department in strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of fundraising efforts through planning and support of corporate and individual fundraising efforts. The National Development Intern will work directly with the Development Department to ensure that all objectives and goals are achieved.

Upon successful completion of this 10-week internship, the selected intern will receive a $500 stipend paid in a lump sum amount. In addition, selected interns will receive resume-building experience and the opportunity to interact with multiple levels of development and nonprofit professionals. The intern may also receive educational credit hours if approved by their academic institution.


 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize ALF’s CRM, Julep, to assist Department members in developing relationships and programming initiatives.
  • Embark on various projects to support Department members
  • Create benchmarking with other similar nonprofits to help facilitate future growth.
  • Research best practices being implemented by other non-profits for their corporate, individual, and fundraising efforts.
  • Department administrative duties as needed


POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Strong team communication skills to ensure the ability to work in a virtual environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong phone skills and willingness to make cold calls
  • Ability to meet deadlines, stay organized and manage several projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with using Microsoft Office programs and conducting online research
  • Must enjoy working as a member of a team with multiple projects and be able to handle pressure with grace  

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

Education Requirements: Candidates should have obtained, or be in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in the field of Public Service, Non-Profit Management, Social Work, Public Health Administration, Communications, Marketing, and/or related discipline.
