Job Title: UI/UX Engineer – 3D CAD Visualization Platforms

Location: Hybrid (3 days remote), Toronto, Canada
Experience: 4 to 5 Years
Rate: CA$45/hr to CA$48/hr

Role Summary: NearSource is seeking a UI/UX Engineer – 3D CAD Visualization Platforms to drive the design conceptualization and front-end architecture of advanced engineering and research systems. This role requires ownership of UX strategy and interaction design while delivering high-performance user interfaces for complex 3D CAD environments.

The selected candidate will translate intricate technical workflows into intuitive, scalable, and production-ready user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the UX conceptualization phase, defining interaction models, information architecture, and user journeys for CAD-driven platforms
  • Architect and develop interactive canvas experiences for decomposing complex mechanical assemblies
  • Drive the design and implementation of core HCI components enabling responsive and precise interaction within CAD-based systems
  • Execute structured UI workflows that optimize requirements capture and user efficiency
  • Develop secure front-end modules supporting authentication and per-user project persistence
  • Engineer UI components for structured data interaction within research-grade applications
  • Implement advanced visualization controls for simulation outputs and kinematic movement in 3D CAD environments
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with research scientists and engineering stakeholders to convert domain complexity into usable product interfaces
  • Execute iterative design validation cycles, incorporating usability feedback and research findings
  • Continuously enhance performance, scalability, accessibility, and visual consistency across features

Must-Have Skills

  • 4 to 5 years of experience delivering scalable, enterprise-grade web applications
  • Proven ability to lead UX conceptualization and interaction design for technically complex platforms
  • Strong expertise in React and Next.js
  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Deep understanding of UI architecture, usability standards, and HCI principles
  • Hands-on experience with 3D web graphics libraries such as Three.js
  • Experience building responsive and adaptive interfaces across modern browsers
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex engineering requirements into intuitive design systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent academic background

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience working with CAD tools or engineering design ecosystems
  • Exposure to advanced data visualization or graph-based UI frameworks
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Copilotkit
  • Working knowledge of Python in environments leveraging LLM agents or LangGraph
