Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Building Controls Project Manager is responsible for supporting the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects by managing the Controls systems, such as Building Management Systems and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems in Mission Critical facilities. This role focuses on ensuring efficient resource allocation, schedule adherence, cost control, and design, while leveraging virtualized environments to streamline project workflows and enhance collaboration.

This is a full-time, site-based position that requires extensive travel to locations that span the continental U.S. Travel subsistence and additional incentives provided per company guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage Controls integration design process, contract document review, and field implementation
  • Key member of the commissioning team as it pertains to Controls
  • Act as a McCarthy liaison with owner’s commissioning agent, owner, and Controls subcontractors throughout duration of the project to ensure Controls systems are commissioned correctly and on schedule.
  • Assist in schedule development for all Controls start-up, test & balance, BMS/EPMS, commissioning and related activities.
  • Work with superintendents on project logistics and temporary facility requirements for your assigned subcontractors.
  • Review and approve material and equipment for Controls systems prior to installation, monitoring the installation and start-up of systems.
  • Communicate progress and prepare appropriate reports as needed, representing McCarthy at weekly owner's meetings.
  • Oversee the manufacturer’s installation and operation verification, as well as vendor equipment control coordination/submittal review.
  • Oversee Controls Systems review, coordination, system start-up/checkout.
  • Responsibilities related to participating in and supporting the preconstruction effort for Controls scopes on Mission Critical projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years’ experience in Construction/Controls design and coordination
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
  • Mission Critical experience highly preferred  
  • General knowledge of construction and design principles/practices required
  • Thorough knowledge of all mechanical, plumbing, medium and low-voltage electrical systems
  • General understanding of Building and Electrical Codes as they relate to construction
  • Experienced working with Controls subcontracts and subcontractors

For California locations only, the salary range for this position is: $113,500 - $141,900. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
 
 For Colorado locations only, In accordance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB19-085), we are including McCarthy’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of a range of entry level base compensation at the time of the posting. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Given the dynamic nature of the large-scale commercial construction industry, a candidate’s project portfolio and background can change the role and compensation for which that candidate might be qualified. The title and pay range for this role could change based on candidate qualifications and experience. Pay Range: $103,200 - $129,000.
