Responsibilities:
- Implement efficient systems and processes: Develop and implement systems and processes to ensure fast, efficient, and prompt payment of legal settlements. Streamline the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to minimize errors and delays.
- Manage a team of accountants: Lead and supervise a team of 4 foreign accountants, providing guidance, training, and support. Delegate responsibilities effectively and ensure accountability through regular performance evaluations and goal setting.
- Financial forecasting and reporting: Prepare weekly profit and loss statements, analyze financial data, and provide detailed financial forecasts. Identify trends and potential areas for cost-cutting measures while maximizing revenue.
- Settlement drafting: Collaborate with legal teams to draft accurate settlement statements, ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations. Verify the completeness and accuracy of settlement calculations.
- Meticulous financial management: Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, reconciling financial discrepancies, and resolving billing issues promptly. Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Utilize accounting software: Expertly utilize accounting software tools such as Bill.com, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel to manage financial operations efficiently. Have a strong understanding of tax regulations and properly categorize items in QuickBooks.
- Approval procedures: Set up approval procedures for financial transactions, ensuring proper authorization and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Cost analysis and expense reduction: Conduct in-depth analysis of business models to identify cost-cutting opportunities. Implement strategies to maximize efficiency while minimizing unnecessary expenses.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CPA) are a plus.
- Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
- At least 2 years of management experience, demonstrating strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software, including Bill.com, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with IOLTA (Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of tax regulations and experience categorizing items in QuickBooks.
- Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
