Job description

Senior Product Manager (Design System) - Portugal Full Remote

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to own and evolve a Design System that powers consistent, scalable and high-quality digital experiences across Web and App platforms. You'll join an international technology company known for its people-first culture, where empathy, self-organisation and clear communication matter as much as product expertise. This is a strategic role: you'll treat the Design System as a product in its own right, owning its vision, roadmap, governance and adoption across a large digital ecosystem with a strong UK presence.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

The goal is to strengthen shared design foundations, evolve visual guidelines and drive the adoption of reusable components over individually built interfaces, reducing duplication and helping product teams ship faster. You'll bridge Design and Engineering, making sure the system serves multiple product teams while staying aligned with business priorities, user needs and technical requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive the long-term vision, adoption and implementation of the Design System across Web, iOS and Android
  • Own the roadmap and prioritise the backlog in line with business goals
  • Coordinate design and engineering workstreams for seamless delivery to internal product teams
  • Champion the Design System across the business, raising awareness and sharing progress
  • Set premium experience standards through high-quality, reusable components and patterns
  • Embed accessibility guidelines and assistive technology support throughout the system
  • Partner with App teams to ensure alignment with Apple's Liquid Glass design language (iOS 26) and Android Edge-to-Edge requirements (Android 15 / API 35)
  • Define productivity baselines and success metrics tied to business OKRs and the online scorecard
  • Support contribution models and governance structures as the system scales
  • Build an engaged user community through regular outreach, feedback loops and quarterly surveys

The role is fully remote from Portugal, with travel to the UK once or twice a month. AI tools are encouraged for analysis, documentation and day-to-day product work.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner
  • Experience treating a platform as a product: internal users as customers, adoption and cross-team dependencies
  • Strong collaboration with design and engineering teams, with enough technical understanding to discuss theming, design tokens and component architecture
  • Familiarity with Web and mobile app development contexts (iOS/Android)
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.2) and assistive technologies
  • Experience defining success metrics, OKRs and adoption baselines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management, including influencing without direct authority
  • Availability to travel to the UK 1–2 times per month
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

  • Hands-on experience managing a Design System, component library or internal platform product

Compensation: €1900 – €2900/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
