Job description

Sourcebooks, the fastest growing and most innovative publisher in the industry, is searching for an Audio Marketing Manager to help power the next phase of growth for Sourcebooks Audio. Our audio program is in full-on growth mode, and we’re looking for a strategic, creative marketer who lives and breathes audiobooks, understands digital trends, and is excited to build outside-the-box campaigns that connect listeners with incredible stories.

You’ll be the lead marketer for audio and thought partner across the organization—developing innovative, audio-first campaigns and also working closely with our imprint, vertical, library, international, and audience development teams to amplify and extend the reach of our titles and authors. You’ll have a seat at the table, a voice in decision-making, and the opportunity to shape how Sourcebooks shows up in the audio space.

This position can be hybrid in Naperville or NYC, or fully remote in the following states ONLY: Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin. Occasional travel to studios, trade shows, training opportunities, in-person events, and author recordings is required.

The annual salary range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000.  We determine starting pay based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education. This process ensures a fair and competitive salary that aligns with both the company and the candidate’s qualifications.

What you’ll do
  • Develop and execute audio-first marketing plans for key frontlist, backlist, and author initiatives, including clear timelines and plug-and-play guidance for authors.
  • Lead audio marketing execution across channels—studio content, social campaigns, digital ads, trade outreach, and backlist re-promotion driven by sales and listening trends.
  • Act as the primary liaison for audio with imprint, vertical, library, international, indie, and sales teams to ensure audio is fully integrated into company-wide campaigns and priorities.
  • Lead meetings with internal stakeholders and external partners (authors, agents, narrators) and present at seasonal sales conferences and company-wide marketing touchbases. You will facilitate clear communication across teams, manage alignment meetings and follow-ups, and ensure that marketing plans, updates, and recommendations are communicated effectively to the appropriate partners.
  • Manage and optimize audio assets (clips, BTS, artwork) and pitch standout audio productions, programming, and panels to media, platforms, and industry events.
  • Support paid media, email, and influencer strategies with audio-specific ideas, assets, and schedules that grow audience engagement and listening.
  • A critical component of this position is performance tracking and data analysis. The role will measure campaign performance against defined KPIs and translate insights into actionable strategies that improve discoverability and marketing effectiveness across the publishing list.
  • Coordinate multiple campaigns and priorities simultaneously, identify areas requiring cross-team decision-making, maintain visibility into project progress, and help ensure that digital marketing activity supports broader publishing and business objectives.
What you bring
  • Strong alignment management and organizational skills are essential to this position.
  • 4-6 years of experience in publishing, entertainment, or marketing, ideally with direct exposure to audio, digital campaigns, or consumer-facing media.
  • A genuine passion for audiobooks, storytelling, and reader/listener communities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting in meetings, writing marketing copy, author guides, and internal briefs.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute marketing plans, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Experience working with social media, email marketing, and digital advertising tools; familiarity with audio or book marketing platforms is a plus.
  • A data-informed mindset: ability to interpret sales and engagement data to spot trends, surface opportunities, and refine strategy.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple titles, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, editorial, publicity, library, and international teams.
  • Comfort working in PowerPoint/Slides, Excel/Sheets, and standard Office tools. Basic design skills (Canva or similar) are needed. Familiarity with Meltwater, Klear, or similar are a plus.
