Job description

Are you the person who spots a missing file before it becomes a missed deadline - and gets genuine satisfaction from making a complicated process run smoothly? Sourcebooks Audio is looking for a detail-oriented Production Associate who is excited to learn the full audiobook production process while helping a fast-growing program stay organized, accurate, and on schedule.

Reporting to the Director of Audio Production, this role supports audiobooks from pre-production through final delivery. You will work closely with the Director of Audio Production, Senior Production Manager, editors, studios, narrators, and outside production partners to keep materials, schedules, title data, and assets moving. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience across casting, manuscript preparation, recording support, quality control, and final delivery.

Success in this role requires excellent attention to detail, clear communication, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit. You should be comfortable managing multiple moving pieces, asking thoughtful follow-up questions, and learning the systems and partnerships behind a growing audiobook list.

The location for this position can be hybrid or remote in New York or Naperville, Illinois, or remote based in any of the following states: Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin.

The annual salary range for this role is $55,000-$65,000. We determine starting pay based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education. This process ensures a fair and competitive salary that aligns with both the company and the candidate's qualifications.

What you'll do:

  • Support audiobook production from pre-production through final delivery, helping ensure materials, schedules, assets, and title data are organized, accurate, and delivered on time.

  • Assist with casting and manuscript preparation by organizing casting materials, preparing production documents, reviewing manuscripts for audio-specific needs, and confirming titles are ready before recording.

  • Maintain and update internal production systems, trackers, databases, shared drives, and vendor-facing platforms.

  • Create, route, and manage pronunciation materials, coordinating with editors, authors, studios, narrators, and production partners so questions are answered and approved guidance is shared.

  • Support delivery workflows by confirming required materials are complete, accurate, properly formatted, and shared according to internal and vendor specifications.

  • Review QC notes and support quality-control workflows by tracking reports, corrections, pickups, final-file readiness, and issues that require escalation.

  • Coordinate routine follow-up across the audio team and outside partners to resolve missing materials, timeline changes, and production questions while helping us build efficient, scalable workflows.

What you bring:

  • A degree in audio, publishing, communications, media production, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. There are no specific number of years required; relevant internship, freelance, academic, or professional experience will be considered.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

  • The ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, assets, and details at once without losing sight of priorities.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams and outside production partners.

  • Comfort learning production systems, databases, trackers, shared drives, and vendor-facing platforms.

  • The judgment to identify missing information, ask thoughtful follow-up questions, and escalate issues appropriately.

  • Experience in publishing, audio production, media production, project coordination, editorial support, or related field is preferred.
