Job description

About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

The Transition Office is ANZ’s central function responsible for governing, advising, and enabling the safe, compliant, and effective movement of work, roles, processes, and services across locations and delivery models, including Global Capability Centres (GCCs), internal ANZ locations, and third-party providers. The team provides strategic advisory support, transition governance, delivery oversight, risk and compliance management, and end-to-end transition execution to ensure transitions align with ANZ’s workforce, location, vendor, and productivity strategies. Through a standardised transition framework, the Transition Office helps business areas identify opportunities, assess feasibility, manage risk, execute transitions, and realise sustainable business benefits

As an Initiative Lead within the Transition Office, you will be responsible for identifying, shaping, and leading strategic initiatives that strengthen ANZ’s transition capabilities, governance, operating frameworks, and enterprise-wide sourcing agenda. You will partner with senior business leaders, Transformation Office, People & Culture, Risk, Finance, Technology, Procurement, and other enablement functions to drive initiatives that improve the way ANZ plans, governs, delivers, and realises value from transitions.

The role combines strategic thinking, delivery leadership, stakeholder engagement, and change management to ensure the Transition Office continuously evolves its frameworks, tools, processes, and operating model to meet enterprise objectives.

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Location: Bengaluru

Role Type: Permanent

What will your day look like?

  • Partner with business and functional leaders to identify opportunities that support ANZ’s workforce, location, outsourcing, vendor, and productivity strategies.
  • Drive the design and implementation of new transition frameworks, methodologies, tools, standards, and governance processes.
  • Manage initiative roadmaps, business cases, delivery plans, risks, dependencies, governance forums, and executive reporting.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver agreed outcomes while ensuring alignment with regulatory, risk, compliance, and governance requirements
  • Drive stakeholder engagement, change management, communication, training, and adoption activities to embed new ways of working across ANZ.
  • Measure and report on initiative outcomes, benefits realisation, operational improvements, and business value delivered.
  • Build strong relationships across divisions and enablement functions to influence strategic decisions and support enterprise transformation priorities
  • Set a vision for the initiative to drive high quality outcomes and unity across a large, virtual team of squads
  • Manage the initiative ‘backlog’ and retain visibility of delivery within Transition Office
  • Implement the right governance construct and stakeholder reporting for visibility and input to decisions, prioritization and remove roadblocks
  • Play a key coordinating role across various divisions and functions that are critical to the delivery of the initiative and understand and plan for interdependencies across various divisions and functions ensuring that there is minimal disruption to their ability to complete projected work
  • Deliver major initiatives within specified time periods with a bounded outcome in the context of new ways of working
  • Find the best path for delivery of the initiative that balances overall completion and total investment with minimisation of time to value

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Experience in leading large scale business and technology change including managing complex stakeholder groups along the journey.
  • Previous experience in scoping and developing plans for strategic pieces of work
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, and ability to build relationships – understand the customer, define the problem and develop solutions through their eyes
  • Strong communication skills and ability to elicit/translate information in a technical/data driven space.
  • Experience in change management - comfortable with uncertainty and have the ability to effectively manage yourself through ambiguity and change
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Willingness to look at things differently, challenge the status quo and innovate

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
