Job description

Permanent, full-time · Aotearoa Infinite Academy · Includes a teaching component · Start Term 1, 2027

Build the culture and connections that make our school a place people want to belong. Aotearoa Infinite Academy, New Zealand's first online charter school, is a thriving community growing to 2,000 students in 2027. To bring our goals for our learners to life, we're expanding our senior leadership team from two to six Deputy Principals, each leading a strategic portfolio shaped by the Golden Circle. This is the WHO role: you'll lead how we listen to, welcome and connect with our students, staff, whānau and wider community, online and in person. You'll also lead pastoral care for Year 10.

What you'll lead

please note this is not exhaustive and may be subject to change

  • Review and voice. Run schoolwide review and evaluation, including student, whānau and staff voice surveys.

  • Onboarding. Lead staff onboarding, plus enrolment interviews and induction for new students and whānau.

  • Community engagement. Host regional meet-ups, whānau hui, learning conferences and community education evenings.

  • EOTC. Own the EOTC calendar, RAMS approval, policy and safety sign-off.

  • Staff wellbeing. Lead staff socials, wellbeing and pastoral care, pōwhiri and cultural events.

  • Partnerships. Grow relationships with iwi, community and partners, and oversee marketing and social media.

  • Year 10 pastoral. Line-manage the Year 10 deans, and cohort attendance follow-up and strategies.

Who you are

We want people who are loyal to our vision, passionate about doing things differently, hard-working and unafraid of change and innovation. You'll also bring:

  • A registered teacher with a full practising certificate and senior or middle leadership experience in pastoral care, community engagement or staff wellbeing.

  • A natural relationship-builder, comfortable at a whānau hui, a staff social or a meeting with iwi or partners.

  • Confident in tikanga Māori and committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • Well organised, with sound judgement on risk and safety for EOTC.

  • Able to turn survey data into improvements people notice.

What we offer

A newly created role in an expanded, collaborative leadership team at a thriving, fast-growing school, with a teaching component that keeps you connected to learners. Like every DP, you'll report to the Principal on your portfolio, line-manage portfolio leaders, contribute to staff PLD and share the duty roster. Competitive remuneration.
