Our Executive Liability Division underwrites Directors’ and Officers’ Liability Insurance, Employment Practices Liability Insurance, and Fiduciary Liability Insurance for public, private and not for profit companies as well as community associations.

The Executive Liability Division is searching for a Claims Representative or Senior Claims Representative. This individual will work fully remote in Canada. Job level and pay is dependent on the successful candidate’s level of experience and location.  


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities  

As a member of our Claims Department, you will be responsible for handling an inventory of claim files.  Duties may include:    

  • Demonstrates functional analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills; ability to organize and prioritize caseload; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to handle confidential information with discretion.  
  • Performs detailed analysis of each claim.  
  • Evaluates coverage and liability, issues written coverage opinions and monitors all aspects of the file while working toward resolution of the claim; including hiring, monitoring and paying defense counsel.   
  • Develops and implements claim litigation and resolution strategies.  
  • Maintains accurate and detailed claim files, including all correspondence, reports and settlement agreements.  
  • Provides information to underwriters and reinsurers on specific claims or insureds and legal trends and issues which affect the business.  
  • Secures and analyzes necessary information (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, records, or other documents) in the investigation of claims.  
  • Attends arbitrations or mediations as necessary.  
  • May affect settlements / reserves within prescribed limits and submit recommendations where applicable.   
  • Ensures that claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.  
  • May provide technical advice to other functional areas.  
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Job Preferences 

  • University degree, college diploma, CIP coursework, or equivalent insurance industry experience preferred. 
  • Experience working with condominium corporations, strata corporations, homeowners associations, nonprofit organizations, property management firms, or community associations is highly desirable. 
  • Equivalent combinations of education, insurance industry  or property management experience, claims handling experience, legal experience, or professional designations will be considered. 
  • Generally, 6 months to 5 years of claims, paralegal, law clerk or property management experience. 
  • Possess or obtain once hired the necessary provincial insurance adjustor license(s).

Salary Range:

$75,000.00 -$170,000.00
