Job description

Who is Bare

Bare is Australia's most highly rated end of life business, supporting Australian families through the hardest time in their life.

We are a company dedicated to providing accessible, affordable end-of-life care to change the way that Australians deal with death. Our aim is to change the game in the funeral industry, which has long provided expensive, traditional, cookie cutter services that don't always meet the
needs of the modern Australian.

By combining empathy with technology, we're creating end-of-life experiences that are simple, personalised and affordable. In only seven years, we've served more than 50,000 families, have become Australia's most awarded end-of-life provider (with awards in customer service, innovation and digital disruption), and have built a team of more than 200 people committed to changing the way Australians deal with end-of-life. And we're just getting started.

At Bare, our End-of-Life Concierges are a key point of contact for families already in our care. You'll be on the phone with people who need help, have a question, are stuck with a problem, or need someone to calmly guide them through the next step. You’ll provide comfort and continuity to offer a world class experience to every caller.

We're growing our casual team and are looking for at least two people who want meaningful, flexible work that fits around the rest of their life.

So what is the role, exactly?

We're looking for empathetic, organised and confident communicators to join our End-of-Life team on a casual basis.

In this role, you'll be phone-based, supporting families who are already working with Bare. They may be calling to understand the next step, update details, ask about paperwork, resolve an issue, check on arrangements, or get help when something feels unclear or overwhelming.

Your job is to make things easier.

That means listening carefully, showing genuine empathy, taking control of the issue, and helping the family get to a clear resolution as quickly as possible. This role is care-led, but it still requires pace, confidence and strong judgement.

That makes sense, but what would my day-to-day look like?

On shift, you will:

  • Take a high volume of inbound calls from families who are already in Bare's care.

  • Act as a trusted guide, helping families understand what happens next and what they need to do.

  • Quickly identify the issue, take ownership, and work towards a clear resolution.

  • Support families with questions about funeral arrangements, paperwork, service details, timelines and next steps.

  • Handle emotionally sensitive conversations with empathy, calm and professionalism.

  • Work closely with care, operations and logistics teams to resolve enquiries quickly.

  • Follow Bare's processes and use our systems accurately, while still bringing human judgement to each conversation.

  • Make sure every family feels supported, informed and confident in Bare's service.

  • You will report into our Head Of Sales and work closely with our broader End-of-Life, care and operations teams.

    How casual shifts work

This is genuinely flexible work, and we want to be upfront about what that looks like.

  • Hours: Most shifts fall between 6am and 6pm.

  • Shift length: We most often offer 8-hour shifts, but we can flex this. Some of our current team work shorter shifts, like 9am to 2pm, around their other commitments.

  • Weekends: We regularly need weekend cover, generally during daytime hours.

  • Overnights: We may occasionally offer overnight shifts when the roster requires it.

  • Pay: $45 per hour + super, which reflects the flexibility we ask for.

  • Equipment: This role is bring-your-own-device. You'll need your own computer, a reliable internet connection and a quiet space to take calls.

  • Ok, sounds great. Who are you looking for?

This is a challenging, but deeply meaningful role. Families come to us in all kinds of circumstances. Some are grieving. Some are overwhelmed. Our role is to make the experience feel calmer, clearer and easier.

    You need:

  • A genuine love of talking to, and helping, people from all walks of life.

  • The ability to handle a high volume of calls without losing warmth or attention to detail.

  • Strong problem-solving skills. You can quickly understand what's going on and work out what needs to happen.

  • Emotional maturity, patience and empathy, and the ability to stay calm when someone else is stressed.

  • Strong ownership. You don't just pass the problem on; you make sure it gets resolved.

  • Comfort working with technology, systems and structured processes.

  • Good judgement around when to follow the process and when to escalate.

  • Availability across a mix of shifts, including regular weekend availability.

  • Your own computer and reliable internet connection.

  • Experience in customer service, call centres, healthcare, aged care, funerals, insurance, banking, complaints handling or other high-volume support environments would be valuable, but it's not essential.

Most importantly, we want someone who believes in our mission. Everyone at Bare is driven by the impact of what we're doing, and we want that to continue with every new hire who joins our team.

Someone in our end-of-life team recently described their role this way: "This is the most impactful work I've ever done. I feel lucky to be able to help people that truly need support." So, there's that. We've also been named one of the 2026 Top 10 Inspiring Workplaces across Australasia, proof that our people-first culture is more than just talk. #PeopleFirst

    In addition, we offer:

    • $45 per hour + super

    • Flexible, work-from-home shifts that fit around your life

    • A friendly, fun and supportive environment, where people genuinely love what they do

    • The chance to make an impact at one of the most critical moments in someone's life

The main reason you'll join, though, is because you believe in what we do and are excited to truly transform an industry.

Bare is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.
