About the Role

Joyce University is seeking a passionate and student-centered Anatomy & Physiology and Pathophysiology Adjunct to join our General Education team in a fully remote teaching environment.

In this role, you will teach Anatomy & Physiology and Pathophysiology courses on a term-to-term basis while helping students build the foundational knowledge they need to succeed in nursing. You’ll engage, support, and challenge students through meaningful online instruction that connects scientific concepts to their future roles as healthcare professionals.

What You’ll Do

Create an Engaging, Student-Centered Learning Experience

  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive online learning environment.
  • Interact with students fairly, professionally, and compassionately.
  • Support and assess student academic achievement and growth.
  • Encourage curiosity, analytical thinking, participation, and meaningful discussion.
  • Help students connect foundational science concepts to their future healthcare careers.
  • Motivate students to advance their education and achieve their academic goals.
  • Provide encouragement and proactive support to students who may be struggling or disengaged.

Deliver High-Quality Online Instruction

  • Teach assigned Anatomy & Physiology and Pathophysiology asynchronous courses in alignment with course objectives and university standards.
  • Ensure courses are accurate, organized, and fully prepared before student engagement begins.
  • Present complex scientific concepts in ways that are engaging, accessible, and relevant to students.
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies and learning technologies to support student learning.
  • Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Grade assignments within 72 hours of submission.
  • Maintain an active faculty presence through announcements, discussion participation, and weekly course engagement.
  • Hold at least one hour of virtual office hours each week.
  • Record and share weekly course overview videos to provide context, reinforce key concepts, and support student success.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback that helps students understand their progress and areas for growth.

Support Academic Excellence & Collaboration

  • Adhere to university policies, academic standards, course requirements, and faculty expectations.
  • Accurately maintain grades, attendance, and student records.
  • Communicate proactively with Student Services and academic leadership regarding student concerns or course-related issues.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, department activities, and university events as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty and colleagues across the university to support student outcomes and academic excellence.
  • Contribute to curriculum and course improvement initiatives as appropriate.

Commit to Professional Growth

  • Stay current in Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, and related areas through continuing education, professional organizations, conferences, research, and professional reading.
  • Participate in faculty development and curriculum improvement initiatives.
  • Explore effective and innovative teaching methods and share best practices with colleagues.
  • Pursue lifelong learning that strengthens both subject-matter expertise and instructional excellence.

Requirements

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, Biology, a related health science discipline, or another closely related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Anatomy & Physiology and/or Pathophysiology.
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfort with online learning platforms and virtual instruction.
  • Passion for teaching, student development, and supporting student success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree or other terminal professional degree.
  • 2–3 years of higher education teaching experience, preferably in Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, or a related discipline.
  • Previous online teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching students preparing for careers in nursing or other healthcare professions.

Compensation is determined based on several factors, including academic credentials, professional and teaching experience, course assignment, credit hours, and instructional delivery format.
