Job description

Job Title: GIS Developer

Effective Date: October 2026

Division: Development

Department: GIS

Reports to: Director, GIS

Direct Reports: NO

Location: Remote

Travel: 10%

Position Purpose:

This role is a full-time, exempt position at the Associate level, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining geospatial applications, automation tools, and analytical models that support site evaluation, risk analysis, and project development across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise geospatial applications, automation workflows, and analytical tools
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize geospatial workflows using Python, ArcPy, APIs, and cloud-based GIS technologies
  • Build integrations between GIS platforms, enterprise systems, databases, and third-party services
  • Develop and publish geoprocessing services and scalable solutions within ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Lead the modernization and automation of GIS workflows to improve efficiency, data quality, and operational scalability
  • Collaborate with Development, Market Operations, Commercial, IT, and Software Development teams to deliver geospatial solutions that support business objectives
  • Provide technical expertise and software development best practices to support long-term platform growth and maintainability
  • All other duties as required

Work Experience & Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or GIS Development.
  • Years of experience: 0-5
  • Certifications: If applicable
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a small team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to climb or balance
  • Must be able to stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
