At St John of God Health Care (SJGHC), we're committed to providing exceptional care while nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals. We are seeking a passionate and strategic Early Career Pathway Coordinator to lead and coordinate innovative early career programs that create meaningful career pathways across our organisation.

As Early Career Pathway Coordinator, you will establish and maintain a best-practice, standardised approach to support attraction, development and retention of SJGHC’s early career workforce. The role will build and maintain key internal and external relationships and strategic partnerships, support early career experiences that in turn support a talent pipeline into employment opportunities and ongoing development and career opportunities at SJGHC.

You will play a key role within the Organisational Development team, in ensuring our early career offerings align with organisational workforce priorities, support critical talent needs, and strengthen SJGHC's reputation as an employer of choice.

Based in Perth, Western Australia, the role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 38 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee student placement programs, including leading and optimising the student placement management system, while partnering with hospitals and services to enhance student experiences andcreate pathways into employment at SJGHC
  • Partner with hospitals and services to deliver graduate development programs that provide a strong, engaging and supportive early career experience
  • Coordinate and continuously improve career progression initiatives, including specialty pathways , partnerships and scholarships.
  • Design and deliver engaging, learner-centred development experiences aligned with adult learning principles,  and industry best practice.
  • Identify, develop and implement early career initiatives that align with workforce priorities and address critical talent needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including hospitals, universities, training providers and partner organisations.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness,  and use data and insights to drive continuous improvement, strengthen talent pipelines, and enhance the SJGHC employer brand.
  • Contribute to Organisational Development initiatives aligned with strategic priorities including leadership development, workforce capability, and Reconciliation

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as a health, education or organisational development profession  and bring demonstrated experience in early career talent, learning and development, or workforce development programs. You will have a strong understanding of best-practice approaches to attracting, developing and retaining emerging talent, together with experience designing and delivering engaging learning initiatives. Strong presentation, facilitation and digital learning capabilities are essential, along with proficiency in Learning Management Systems, virtual learning platforms and Microsoft Office applications.

You will be a highly organised and adaptable professional with excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and customer service skills. The role requires the ability to build effective relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment. Success in this position will also be supported by strong problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while driving effective processes, systems and evidence-based approaches to talent development.

Candidates with postgraduate qualifications or recent experience in Health Professional Education, Education, Training, Human Resources, Career Development or a related field will be highly regarded. Previous experience within the healthcare industry, along with an understanding of Occupational Safety and Health and Equal Opportunity legislation, will also be viewed favourably.

  • Salary: $128,800 to $143,100 plus 12% superannuation
  • Permanent Full Time position, working 38 hours a week
