As a Data Assurance & Reporting Officer within our Performance Unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the data underpinning organisational reporting and decision-making is accurate, complete, consistent, timely and fit for purpose.

You will work at the intersection of data, systems and the business — investigating anomalies, identifying root causes, strengthening data controls and partnering with stakeholders to build confidence in the information we rely on.

Your Impact Portfolio:

• Statutory & Performance Reporting: Provide assurance over key datasets (VEMD, VAED, VINAH) and reporting processes, identifying risks and implementing controls to improve compliance and reporting confidence.
• Data Quality & Assurance: Develop and implement data quality checks, validation processes and assurance frameworks that ensure critical healthcare and operational data can be trusted.
• Root-Cause Investigation: Investigate data anomalies, inconsistencies and reporting issues, tracing problems back through systems, processes and source data to identify sustainable solutions.
• Reporting Integrity: Support the accuracy and integrity of MaP (Monitoring and Performance) and other organisational reporting, ensuring information provided to Clinical Directors, Executives and operational leaders is reliable and meaningful.
• Culture Catalyst: Build high-trust relationships across Western Health, working with data owners and subject matter experts to establish a culture where data quality is everyone's responsibility.

Your Profile:

• The Data Quality Mindset: You have a strong understanding of data quality, validation and assurance principles and are naturally curious about how data is created, transformed and consumed.
• Healthcare Curiosity: You have a "hunger for the hunt" — you enjoy investigating unexpected results, identifying patterns and finding the root cause behind data quality issues.
• The Translator: You possess Communication Mastery, turning complex data and technical issues into clear, practical recommendations that non-technical stakeholders can understand and act upon.
• The Detail Detective: You have exceptional attention to detail and understand that in healthcare, data accuracy isn't just a goal — it’s essential to safe, effective and accountable care.
• The Collaborator: You are comfortable working across clinical, operational, corporate and technical environments, bringing people together to resolve data issues and improve processes.

About you:

• Would suit those with a Health Information Management tertiary qualification.
• Strong technical skills in MS Excel, with the ability to organise data, create formulas.
• interrogate datasets, identify anomalies and validate data across multiple sources.
• Experience developing and implementing data quality rules, validation checks, reconciliation processes and data assurance controls.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate data issues and perform root-cause analysis, including tracing discrepancies through source systems, business processes and data transformations.
• Experience working with data visualisation and reporting tools, with the ability to assess whether reported information is accurate, meaningful and fit for purpose.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data risks, prioritise issues and develop practical and sustainable solutions.
• Demonstrated experience in data quality, data assurance, data governance, reporting or information management, preferably within a complex healthcare or public sector environment.
• Stakeholder & Communication Excellence: Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders across multiple business functions, translating business and reporting requirements into clear data definitions, quality controls and sustainable assurance processes.
