Captain and Chef team for Oyster 575

This is a remote position.

Starting in January 2027, we are looking for an experienced, proactive Captain/Engineer and Mate/Cook Couple to take over the professional operation of an adventurous Oyster 575 for the final leg of the 2026 Oyster World Rally and the programme beyond. This is a hands-on role for an accomplished sailing team with the confidence and practical ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot the yacht in remote locations.

A careful handover from the outgoing Captain is expected in Brazil before the yacht sets sail for Antigua and the rally finish in April 2027. Potential plans after the rally include the Marion to Bermuda Race, summer family cruising along the US East Coast and in Maine, followed by a Caribbean winter in 2028. Both crew members must hold valid B1/B2 visas for cruising in US waters.

The owner is passionate about life under sail, enjoys passagemaking and likes to take an active place in the watch rota. He also likes to have the flexibility to participate in sailing when he chooses. The successful team will therefore be self-sufficient and able to sail and maintain the yacht confidently themselves.

Couples are preferred for this position. The Captain/Engineer should ideally hold RYA Yachtmaster Ocean certification or demonstrate substantial ocean-passage experience and strong engineering skills, while the Mate/Cook must hold a valid RYA Yachtmaster Offshore certificate and have excellent sailing experience.

Requirements

•  YM Ocean certification or solid Ocean experience is preferable for the Oyster World Rally professional Captains
  
• B1/B2 visas are essential for cruising in US
  
  
• Solid engineering skills/knowledge are essential for problem solving in remote locations
  
  
• The Mate/Cook will need to hold a valid YM Offshore and excellent sailing experience
  
  
• Both require up to date STCW and ENG1 certifications
