Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning Network Engineer to lead the turn-up, integration, and operational handoff of enterprise and service-provider-grade network infrastructure. As an L3 Commissioning Specialist, you will be the final technical authority responsible for validating complex network deployments, conducting high-level acceptance testing, and resolving critical, high-tier configuration and routing issues before systems go live in production.

This role requires deep expertise in multi-vendor routing and switching, network automation, structural fiber/optical interconnects, and strict adherence to post-configuration quality assurance frameworks. You will work closely with deployment teams, network architects, and field engineers to ensure seamless, zero-downtime integration of new sites, data centers, and core network nodes.

In this role, you’ll:

• System Integration: Lead the end-to-end commissioning, provisioning, and integration of core routers, switches, firewalls, optical transport gear, and edge devices across data center, campus, and ISP environments.
• Pre/Post-Deployment Validation: Execute rigorous pre-flight and post-flight testing (failover testing, and optical light-level verification) to ensure hardware and topology match baseline architectural designs.

• Advanced Troubleshooting: Serve as the final escalation point (L3) during deployment windows to diagnose and resolve complex Layer 2/3 routing, switching, and security protocol issues.

• Cross-Functional Leadership: Provide technical guidance and training to L1/L2 field technicians and contractors regarding physical fiber standards, console pinouts, and turn-up procedures.

At a minimum, we would like you to have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, deployment, or L3 support within an ISP, data center, or large enterprise environment.
• Experience with BGP (iBGP/eBGP), OSPF, IS-IS and MPLS (L2VPN, L3VPN, VRFs).
• Experience working with VXLAN, EVPN, STP/RSTP, LACP, VPC, and VLAN tagging strategies.
• Direct experience configuring and commissioning enterprise/ISP hardware, including Juniper (Junos), Nokia (SR-OS/OLT), Siklu and Ruckus Switches.
• Proficiency with network testing tools (e.g., IXIA, Spirent, EXFO) and scripting languages (Ansible, YAML,).
• Knowledge of optical power meters, OTDR testing, fiber types (SMF/MMF), transceiver diagnostics (SFP+/QSFP28), and serial console pinout mapping.

It’s preferred that you have:

• Exceptional root-cause analysis skills under high-pressure deployment or maintenance windows.
• Ability to translate complex engineering status updates to non-technical stakeholders and write clear, standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Flexibility to work late-night maintenance windows (typically 12:00 AM – 6:00 AM) and occasional travel to regional pop sites, data centers, or central offices as needed.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $86,800 - $140,300 + bonus + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.

Bonus: 15% base salary > Based on performance and paid annually
