The OPPORTUNITY: 

Leverage your experience and join our team as a Data Engineer II. This role handles complex data workflows, optimization, and data modeling responsibilities. It focuses on improving the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), building out new data marts for business departments, refining ETL/ELT processes, and working more closely with data governance, performance tuning, and automation. The Data Engineer II requires deep technical expertise in SQL Server and cloud data platforms like Snowflake, as well as a stronger ability to work independently on data pipeline development and troubleshooting. This role also plays a role in mentoring junior team members and contributing to best practices. The success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and serve; this locally remote role is based in Raleigh and will allow you to do your best work from your home office, collaborating virtually with your team daily. You will work from the Raleigh office several times a year for meetings and company events. 

Your WORK as a Data Engineer II will make a difference as you:  

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT processes to support data integration.
• Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
• Work independently on assign projects to support business initiatives within agile delivery teams.
• Ensure data quality and consistency by identifying and resolving data integrity issues.
• Implement and monitor data governance, security, and compliance policies.
• Support performance tuning of SQL queries and database structures.
• Automate data workflows and improve monitoring and alerting processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data pipeline and infrastructure issues.
• Document and standardize best practices for data engineering processes.

 Skills and Experience to Get the Job Done Right: 

• BA/BS degree (Data, Computer Science or other related field of study preferred) 3-6 years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or database administration. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered. Insurance industry experience preferred.
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
• Solid understanding of data warehouse, data lake, and data modeling concepts.
• Experience optimizing SQL queries and database performance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
