We want to find an innovative, adaptable, and strategic Software Engineer for our Maximo team. This position can be located in Waltham, MA, Brooklyn, NY, Hicksivlle, NY, or Syracuse, NY (candidates may also reside in either Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine). What you'll do

As Software Engineer - Maximo, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the Gas Enterprise Asset Management system. You'll design, build, configure, test, and maintain IBM Maximo and MAS capabilities that support critical gas business processes. You'll partner with the Systems Integrator, product teams, business stakeholders, and peer engineers to translate requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions. You'll also deliver integrations, automation scripts, configuration changes, reports, defect fixes, and performance improvements while ensuring solutions align with National Grid standards, security requirements, and delivery commitments. Following implementation, you'll provide ongoing platform support and continuous improvement across capabilities such as Work Management and Execution, Construction, and Inspections and Maintenance for Gas Operations. Key responsibilities include the following:

• Provide technical support for the Gas Enterprise Asset Management platform, including IBM Maximo 7.6 and MAS 9.
• Design, develop, configure, test, and support current- and future-state Maximo solutions across the full software delivery lifecycle.
• Deliver maintainable application changes, production fixes, performance improvements, and operational support for Maximo applications, integrations, and related components.
• Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, and functional leads to gather, clarify, and translate requirements into technical designs and delivery plans.
• Guide technical and functional teams in adopting engineering best practices, operational standards, and effective day-to-day support processes.
• Apply AI-enabled development tools, including GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, and IBM Bob, where they improve quality, productivity, support outcomes, or end-user value.
• Build and support integrations with enterprise systems using Web Services, REST/SOAP, Azure API Management, and the Maximo Integration Framework.
• Enhance Maximo through configuration, workflows, automation scripts, MBO customizations, BIRT reports, and related application extensions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across applications, integrations, workflows, reporting, performance, and data integrity.
• Create validation documents, test plans, test cases, and deployment evidence to support reliable and auditable delivery.
• Maintain technical documentation, including system designs, deployment guides, design specifications, configuration notes, and user guides.
• Mentor teammates, share technical knowledge, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.
• Build trusted relationships with business and IT stakeholders through clear communication, responsive support, and high-quality delivery.

About you

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience with Scrum/Agile, ITIL, and SDLC practices.
• 5+ years of experience in application development, application support, or enterprise platform engineering.
• 2+ years of experience working on an Agile development team.
• 2+ years of experience implementing or supporting Maximo in cloud-based architectures.
• Strong knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management systems, Maximo implementation practices, and utility asset management processes.
• Strong understanding of Maximo architecture, modules, security model, configuration patterns, and extension points.
• Experience configuring and extending Maximo, including Database Configuration, Escalations, Cron Tasks, workflows, automation scripts, MBO customizations, BIRT reports, and integration frameworks.
• Experience developing or supporting integrations with SAP, Salesforce, GIS, mobile applications, and other enterprise platforms.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, cloud deployment patterns, source control, and CI/CD practices.
• Proficiency in Java, SQL, and related development technologies; experience with Python, JavaScript, C#, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, MuleSoft, and Azure is a plus.
• Experience optimizing Maximo performance and improving reliability, maintainability, and operational support outcomes.

Downstate NY $137,000 - $161,000 a year

Massachusetts $129,000 - $151,000 a year

Upstate NY $114,000 - $134,000 a year
