Data Integration Specialist (5684)

SMX is seeking a highly skilled Data Integration Specialist to join our team of technical and domain experts. This role is pivotal to the successful implementation of a new enterprise-wide budget solution for a key client. As a Data Integration Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the data pipelines that connect the client's source financial systems (such as ERPs, General Ledgers, and HR systems) to the new budgeting and forecasting platform. This is a full-time position that is 100% remote and will require minimal travel <20% and requires a Public Trust clearance.

Essential Duties :

You will be the bridge between raw financial data and actionable insights, ensuring data flows accurately, securely, and efficiently. This position requires a blend of deep technical expertise in ETL/ELT processes and a strong understanding of financial data structures. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of breaking down data stovepipes and delivering targeted capabilities that solve real problems for our clients, assuring a successful outcome.

Key Responsibilities

•    Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and automated ETL/ELT pipelines to extract financial data from various source systems and load it into the target budget solution.

•    Source System Analysis: Collaborate with client stakeholders and functional consultants to analyze source data from systems like, SAP S/4HANA, and other government financial systems to understand data structures, relationships, and business rules.

•    Data Mapping & Transformation: Create and manage complex data mapping documents. Write and execute HANA CDS views and SQL queries and scripts to transform, cleanse, and validate data according to the requirements of the new budget solution.

•    Data Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous data quality checks, validation routines, and reconciliation processes to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial data.

•    Troubleshooting & Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor data integration jobs, troubleshoot failures, and optimize performance of data pipelines to meet processing windows and performance SLAs.

•    Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, solution architects, functional consultants, and client SMEs to ensure the integration design aligns with overall project goals and business requirements.

•    Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including data flow diagrams, integration specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Skills & Experience:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or equivalent experience.

•    Proven experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP HANA, SAP S/4 HANA, SAP BW/4HANA and SAP BW.
o    Data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting.
o    Client-side JavaScript to enhance SAC functionality.
o    Familiarity with SAC, BPC or BW-IP.

•    5+ years of hands-on experience in a data integration, CDS View development, ETL development, or data engineering role.

•    Proven proficiency in writing complex, optimized CDS, SQL and working with relational databases (e.g., SAP HANA, SQL Server, Oracle).

•    Demonstrable experience with loading data into models using SAC and S/4HANA Source System. Experience with (e.g., SAP Data Services, SAP BTP).
 
•    Skilled in Data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting capabilities.

•    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

•    Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

•    Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance which requires US Citizenship.

Desired Skills & Experience

•    Experience working on a financial system or ERP implementation, particularly with federal government clients.

•    Experience with SAP HANA, SAP BW, and SAP Business Objects Data Services (BODS).

•    Solid understanding of core financial and accounting concepts (e.g., General Ledger, Chart of Accounts, Debits/Credits, Trial Balances) and experience with ABAP scripting language.
 
•    Experience working with SAP Ariba

•    Direct experience with federal budgeting solutions and platforms (e.g., OneStream, Anaplan, Oracle EPM/Hyperion/FM, IBM TM1).

•    Knowledge of API-based data integration and web services (REST, SOAP).

•    Relevant technical certifications (e.g., SAP SAC, SAP HANA, SAP BW4/HANA).

•    Prior experience in a client-facing or consulting role.
