Position Overview

We are seeking a Global Renewals Strategy & Programs Director to shape and operationalize the strategy, operating model, and transformation agenda for our global renewal business.

This leader will partner with the VP of Global Renewals and the Renewals Leadership Team to translate business priorities into a scalable global renewal model — connecting process, people, data, technology, and enablement to improve retention, growth, predictability, and seller effectiveness.

The role sits at the intersection of Renewals Sales, Customer Success, Revenue Operations, GTM Strategy & Operations, Finance, Marketing, Partners, and Technology. It is both a strategy and hands-on execution role: the Director designs the operating model and also runs the standing interlocks, cadences, and cross-functional coordination that keep Sales, Customer Success, and Revenue Operations aligned on shared priorities — stepping in personally to coordinate resources and remove blockers on complex, strategically important initiatives rather than handing off process design to others.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Global Renewals leadership to translate business priorities into a clear strategy, operating model, and transformation roadmap
  • Define and continuously evolve global renewal lifecycle milestones, workflows, engagement models, roles, and decision rights — in close partnership with Sales, Customer Success, and Revenue Operations
  • Establish differentiated renewal motions based on customer value, risk, growth potential, complexity, and cost-to-serve
  • Identify structural barriers to renewal performance and develop recommendations spanning process, organization, data, technology, and enablement
  • Drive global consistency while enabling appropriate flexibility across segments, geographies, and customer needs
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Renewals, Sales, and Customer Success, establishing standardized handoffs and recurring interlocks that keep priorities aligned
  • Establish a common framework for identifying, prioritizing, and managing renewal risk using customer health, adoption, engagement, commercial, and account signals — partnering with Customer Success, Revenue Operations, and Data Science to build and maintain those signals
  • Define risk themes, intervention triggers, Save Plans, renewal plays, and signal-to-action workflows that enable earlier and more targeted intervention
  • Partner with Renewals Sales, Finance, and Revenue Operations to operationalize commercial strategies including pricing, uplifts, discount governance, multi-year offers, and retention programs.  Own field rollout and adoption tracking for these commercial program, and measure their effectiveness in partnership with Revenue Operations.
  • Define the intersection between renewal and expansion motions, including qualification criteria, ownership, engagement rules, and handoffs
  • Build feedback loops that convert Sales and Customer Success insights into actionable guidance for both organizations, and measure the effectiveness of risk and commercial interventions
  • Partner with Renewals Sales leadership and Revenue Operations to establish consistent forecasting principles, stages, definitions, and operating cadences
  • Improve visibility into upcoming renewals, ARR at risk, slippage, downsell, churn, and growth opportunities
  • Define a balanced performance framework spanning GRR, NRR, renewal rate, forecast accuracy, risk, program effectiveness, adoption, and operational efficiency
  • Establish dashboards, inspection mechanisms, and governance that enable leaders to identify performance gaps and intervene early.
  • Run recurring interlocks with Renewals, Sales, and Revenue Operations leadership, translating performance data into actionable insights and leadership-ready recommendations
  • Translate renewal strategy into simple, field-executable workflows, plays, milestone guides, job aids, and role-based enablement
  • Partner with Renewals leadership and Enablement to drive adoption, coaching, reinforcement, and continuous improvement of standard practices
  • Shape high-touch, assisted, digital-first, and self-service renewal motions appropriate to different customer segments
  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, eliminate non-value-added activities, and increase seller capacity
  • Champion automation, digital engagement, and AI-assisted capabilities that improve prioritization, preparation, customer engagement, and follow-through
  • Define the business capabilities, data, signals, workflows, and technology requirements necessary to enable the future-state renewal model
  • Partner with GTM Technology, Revenue Operations, Data Science, and other capability owners to translate business priorities into coordinated roadmaps and investment decisions
  • Serve as a strategic connector and hands-on interlock lead across Renewals, Customer Success, Sales, Revenue Operations, Finance, Marketing, Partners, and Technology
  • Establish clear ownership, decision rights, handoffs, and shared accountability for capabilities spanning organizational boundaries.
  • Lead cross-functional transformation initiatives from problem definition and future-state design through implementation, adoption, measurement, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Revenue Operations to improve renewal workflows within CRM and Customer Success platforms, drive process automation and data quality improvements, and ensure accurate contract and renewal data flow across systems

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in SaaS, enterprise technology, or another recurring-revenue business, with significant experience across Renewals, Customer Success, Revenue Operations, Sales Strategy, Sales Operations, or related GTM disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience translating business strategy into scalable operating models, global programs, and field execution
  • Strong understanding of renewal lifecycle management, customer retention, renewal risk, forecasting, and recurring-revenue economics
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional transformation involving process, data, technology, enablement, and organizational change
  • Proven experience serving as a primary liaison or interlock lead between Sales, Customer Success, and Revenue Operations — establishing standardized handoffs, recurring cadences, and shared accountability
  • Experience partnering with senior Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Revenue Operations, and Technology leaders in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Hands-on program management experience for high-complexity, strategic accounts or initiatives — not solely process design
  • People leadership experience and/or demonstrated leadership of large-scale initiatives through cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree a plus, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strategic and systems thinking combined with a strong bias toward practical, hands-on execution
  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to translate customer, operational, and financial signals into business decisions
  • Ability to operate effectively from executive strategy through detailed field execution
  • Strong program, transformation, change-management, and stakeholder-management capabilities
  • Skilled at running effective cross-functional interlocks — clear agendas, decisions, and follow-through — across Sales, Customer Success, and Revenue Operations
  • Experience with CRM, Customer Success, forecasting, and business intelligence platforms such as Salesforce, Gainsight, Clari, and related technologies
  • Understanding of AI, automation, and digital capabilities and their application to seller productivity and customer engagement
  • Exceptional executive communication, facilitation, and cross-functional influence skills
  • Strategic thinker and pragmatic problem solver
  • Customer- and seller-centric with a strong focus on measurable business outcomes
  • Creates clarity and alignment across complex organizational boundaries
  • Uses data and evidence to challenge assumptions and prioritize investment
  • Takes end-to-end ownership from strategy through hands-on execution, adoption, and measurement
  • Comfortable leading through influence in a fast-paced, highly matrixed global environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Within the first year, this leader will establish a globally consistent and scalable renewal model in which teams know where to focus, what signals matter, and how success is measured. Renewal teams will spend less time navigating fragmented processes and more time engaging customers and creating value, while leaders gain earlier visibility into risk and stronger forecast predictability
  • Improved GRR, NRR, and renewal rates, with reduced preventable churn and downsell
  • Earlier identification of renewal risk and improved visibility into ARR at risk
  • Improved forecast accuracy and reduced renewal slippage.
  • Increased adoption of standard renewal workflows, Save Plans, and commercial programs
  • Improved seller productivity through workflow simplification, automation, and AI-assisted tools
  • Greater consistency in renewal execution and accountability across regions and segments
  • Stronger, more consistent alignment between Renewals, Sales, Customer Success, and Revenue Operations, with clear cadences and shared accountability for outcomes
