Role: Integrator Support – Mechanical

Location: Charlotte, NC (Remote home base with 80% travel, both domestic and international)

Duration: Now - End of Q4 2028 (More than 2-year project)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS    :

Expected %:    50% Integrators - 30% Hickory

Location(s):    Integrator sites (Scotland and Canada), Hickory, and occasional remote work

INTERVIEW PROCESS:

• 30 minute initial screening with manager via Teams
• 90 minute panel interview via Teams (candidate to present on 1 or 2 previous projects, and skills/experience)

Job Description:

The Integrator Support - Mechanical role provides hands-on mechanical oversight and technical support across multiple integrator sites to ensure equipment is built, installed, and commissioned in accordance with design requirements. The position supports fabrication quality, issue resolution, development activities, and vendor coordination while maintaining consistent mechanical standards and execution across the project.

Required education and years of Experience:

• Minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Mechatronics or related STEM field
• 7+ years of experience supporting fabrication, assembly, installation, or integration activities associated with process manufacturing equipment/automation

Skills Required:

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to evaluate mechanical execution and workmanship
• Ability to communicate effectively with integrators and engineering teams
• Familiarity with development systems, testing activities, and equipment builds
• Ability to travel extensively as project needs require

SKILLS DESIRED:

• Prior integrator-support experience
• Experience with machine assembly and mechanical troubleshooting
• Familiarity with multiple vendor environments     
• Ability to support development test beds and prototype equipment      
• Cross-functional awareness of controls and system integration concepts

Key Responsibilities:

Development & Engineering: 

• Support mechanical design execution and development activities
• Assist with development systems and test-bed activities              
• Represent mechanical leadership when primary resources are unavailable
• Support technical communications with integrators
• Ensure consistency of guidance provided across multiple vendors

Fabrication & FAT:   

• Monitor fabrication progress at integrator sites     
• Support mechanical issue resolution          
• Provide field observations and feedback to project leadership  
• Help verify fabrication quality and alignment with design intent
• Coordinate with mechanical leads supporting both vendor teams

Commission & SAT:   

• Support installation and startup planning as required
• Provide mechanical support for field issues and escalations      
• Assist with deployment readiness activities

Project Closure:    

• Support verification of final mechanical documentation
• Review as-built documentation and redline incorporation            
• Assist in ensuring equipment documentation accurately reflects delivered systems 
• Support transfer of mechanical information to plant operations?

Miscellaneous:

• Reduce travel burden on existing mechanical leads          
• Support both integrators rather than being permanently assigned to only one vendor
• Maintain consistency in technical expectations across vendors
• Assist with development-line activities occurring concurrently with vendor execution
• Provide additional mechanical capacity during peak project periods
