Position Summary:

Note: this is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed ten (10) months.

This position is part of the Global Media Insights function within Data Strategy & Analytics (“DSA”) group, delivering data-driven insights to stakeholders and empowering decisions for the NBA’s media business. This role will be expected to analyze media research data, build products that put key information in the hands of stakeholders, and be a strategic partner on cross-functional projects. A successful support model will include interfacing with the strategic leads of the NBA’s media business and translating their priority needs into technical requirements that result in data products and analytical outputs that drive more effective decision making.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed on the competitive landscape and trends within media broadly
  • Work with DSA stakeholders to refine the central media data platform and combine with fan insights
  • Provide business knowledge to ensure data accuracy in translating external data feeds to the internal semantic layer
  • Scale new suite of reports for stakeholders across national and local media business
  • Automate common viewership analytics requests from central platform and other media sources to provide data-driven intelligence
  • Analyze, interpret, and craft stories on viewing patterns, market trends, and competitors
  • Communicate complex, data-driven insights in a clear and compelling manner

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Foundational understanding of the sports media business and operational requirements facing a sports organization
  • Experience with media research data analytics tools (e.g., Nielsen) required with broader syndicated research platforms a plus
  • Technical foundation in SQL, Python and/or other coding languages to support robust analyses
  • Experience with business intelligence platforms (e.g., Tableau) to construct scaled reporting
  • Strong collaborator who can effectively operate within a matrixed organization to influence and drive results
  • Hard-working critical thinker who can overcome challenges to meet project-based goals
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to translate complex concepts into simple and intuitive deliverables

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in business or quantitative field
  • 2+ years of experience in media or stakeholder-driven roles

Salary Range:

$3,300-$3,500/bi-weekly
