These organizations Include: Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC); Nunasi Corporation; Makivik Corporation; the Nunatsiavut Group of Companies (NGC); Qikiqtaaluk Corporation; Sakku Investments Corporation, and Kitikmeot Corporation. PAIL’s first initiative was to pursue the award of the North Warning System operations and maintenance contract through a Joint Venture with ATCO Frontec.

Located in the heart of downtown Ottawa at our Contract Management Office (CMO) serves as the hub for corporate and contract management activities supporting operations across Canada's North. Working alongside a diverse team of professionals, you'll contribute to the delivery of critical services in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Why This Role:

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting employees and leaders across the North Warning System contract. As the primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries, you will help deliver employee-focused HR programs, policies, and processes while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, and company policies. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through employee relations, labour relations, performance management, and HR operations in a dynamic, federally regulated environment.

 
What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and supervisors, providing guidance and support on a variety of HR matters.
  • Support employee relations activities, including workplace investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, terminations, and exit interviews.
  • Coordinate employee leave programs, return-to-work plans, and accommodation processes in collaboration with employees, leaders, medical professionals, and third-party providers.
  • Administer performance management programs, including probationary reviews, annual performance evaluations, and salary review processes.
  • Provide guidance on the interpretation and application of the collective agreement and support labour relations activities, including grievance tracking and collective bargaining preparation.
  • Process employee lifecycle transactions, including new hires, leaves of absence, transfers, and terminations.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and support HR reporting, communications, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with managers, payroll, finance, and HR team members to ensure effective and efficient HR service delivery.

Who You Are:

  • CREDENTIALS: Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation required.
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum three (3) years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience and at least two (2) years supporting labour relations and/or employee relations activities.
  • SKILLS: Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment legislation, employee and labour relations principles, performance management, and leave administration. Experience using HRIS systems such as ADP Workforce Now and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • ATTRIBUTES: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, discretion in handling confidential information, ability to manage multiple priorities, and a customer-service-focused approach.
  • ASSETS: Previous experience working in a federally regulated environment.
  • Please note that employment is conditional upon obtaining and maintaining a Reliability Security Clearance.
