Job description

VirtueStaff is seeking a practical and design-focused Interior Design Specialist on behalf of our client. In this versatile support role, you will work closely with executive design leadership to select, specify, and call out furniture and FFE items based on project space plans, budgets, and design intents. You will assist with creating concept boards, organizing client design packages, and researching approved trade vendors, with a particular focus on senior living facilities and commercial environments. Additionally, during lighter design periods, you will handle secondary administrative tasks including travel logistics, flight research, hotel bookings, and calendar coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Select and specify appropriate furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) aligned with project scope, budget, and design intent
  • Interpret architectural space plans and assist design leadership with furniture layout planning
  • Create visual concept boards, design presentations, and comprehensive design packages for client reviews
  • Research and source commercial furniture pieces from approved trade manufacturers and preferred vendor accounts
  • Ensure all FFE selections satisfy functional environment requirements, particularly durability and accessibility standards for senior living facilities
  • Translate executive project briefs into actionable furniture recommendations in close collaboration with the VP of Design
  • Organize and catalog FFE specifications, product data sheets, and historical project records within the firm's design management platform
  • Coordinate travel logistics during lighter design cycles, including flight options, hotel bookings, rental cars, and site visit itineraries
  • Manage calendar scheduling, issue meeting invitations, and provide general administrative support to the executive design team

Requirements

  • Prior hands-on experience working within an interior design team, home staging business, residential design firm, or multifamily design environment
  • Strong ability to read 2D space plans and execute detailed FFE specifications and furniture callouts
  • Formal design or architecture degrees are not required, practical design experience, common sense, and a strong visual eye are prioritized
  • Demonstrated ability to source furniture within strict project budgets and manufacturer guidelines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for organizing spec sheets, pricing schedules, and administrative tracking logs
  • Ability to learn digital design tools, concept board applications, and project management software quickly
  • Excellent attention to detail, humble attitude, and strong verbal and written communication skills
