Job description

Overview:

Nakupuna Companies is seeking a Geophysicist to provide support on Munitions Response (MR) projects. The successful candidate will play a role in all project phases, from business development, project planning, project execution, and reporting. The MR Geophysicist will also facilitate clear communication with AGC partners/subcontractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess potential project opportunities with AGC components
  • Assist in proposal preparation, provide input on munitions response technical and cost proposals
  • Communicate with AGC partner/subcontractor in development of geophysical survey design, data collection planning, and results interpretation. Review plans and identify potential data gaps
  • Participate in project meetings and engage with project delivery teams, including partners and clients
  • Assist in preparation of workplans, MR-QAPPs, and other planning documents
  • Provide on-site support and troubleshooting during field operations, ensuring that data quality meets project objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Review partner/subcontractor geophysical deliverables and reports
  • Assist in preparation of project reports
  • Travel to project sites may be required
Qualifications:

Skills/Qualifications: Ability to professionally interact with managers, coworkers, field operations staff, technical staff, and partners/subcontractors. Capable of supporting development of or writing project work plans, project reports, etc. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Self-motivated, able to function as part of a team, able to think critically. Additionally, must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as evidenced by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geophysics, geology, or closely related field, plus a minimum of three years’ relevant experience
  • Familiarity with all current MMRP guidance for conducting munitions response geophysical surveys
  • Familiarity with a variety of geophysical methods
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of positioning systems such as RTK GPS, RTS, SLAM, etc.
  • Experience with planning and performing geophysical surveys using a variety of geophysical sensors and positioning systems
  • Experience with all aspects of MR data acquisition, analysis, target selection, and classification
  • Experience with MR QC/QA including performing, evaluating, documenting, and ensuring compliance with current guidance documents
  • Familiarity with processing geophysical data
  • Experience using software including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, etc.), and ESRI ArcGIS
  • Preference for candidates with experience performing work for DoD clients (USACE, NAVFAC, etc.) under CERCLA and RCRA

Certifications: OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER and recent 8-hr annual refresher training preferred. OSHA 30-hour General Industry or Construction Industry safety training, and/or Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certifications preferred

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting (up to 30 pounds unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. 

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000 annually. The range displayed represents the typical range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
