Instructional Designer / Learning Strategist
(Open Call for Independent Contractors)

We are seeking experienced Independent Contractors to provide Instructional Design, Learning Strategy, and Curriculum Design services on a project-by-project basis. Contractors engaged through this opportunity will partner with clients, subject matter experts, and project teams to analyze learning needs, develop effective learning strategies, design curricula, and create engaging learning experiences across digital, blended, and instructor-led environments.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals who excel at translating business and performance needs into impactful learning solutions, including learning journeys, facilitator guides, participant materials, assessments, learning plans, and comprehensive instructor-led training programs.

This is an ongoing open call for qualified contractors. While engagement is not guaranteed, candidates who meet our requirements may be contacted as project opportunities arise.

Important: This is not an employment opportunity, full-time role, or salaried position. This opportunity is for independent contractors providing services on an hourly or project basis. Compensation typically ranges from $35-$45 CAD/USD per hour, depending on experience, expertise, and project requirements. Applicants must currently reside in Canada or the United States.

Scope of Services
  • Lead learning needs analysis and performance consulting activities to identify business, learner, and operational requirements.
  • Design learning strategies, curricula, learning journeys, and training roadmaps aligned to organizational goals and performance outcomes.
  • Design digital, blended, instructor-led, and virtual instructor-led learning solutions.
  • Develop instructional architecture, learning objectives, assessments, storyboards, facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, and supporting learning assets.
  • Create comprehensive instructor-led training materials, including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, exercises, activities, and evaluation tools.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions and consult with clients, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to define learning requirements, scope, and success measures.
  • Apply adult learning principles, learning science, accessibility standards, and learner experience best practices throughout the design process.
  • Provide recommendations regarding learning modalities, curriculum structure, measurement approaches, and implementation strategies.
  • Review and refine learning content to ensure instructional effectiveness, usability, accessibility, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to clients and project teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of learning standards, processes, templates, and design methodologies.
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Experience performing training needs analysis, performance consulting, curriculum design, and learning strategy development.
  • Demonstrated experience creating instructor-led and virtual instructor-led training materials.
  • Strong client-facing consulting and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to lead discovery sessions and stakeholder workshops.
  • Experience designing multi-modal learning programs and end-to-end curricula.
Contractor Availability Expectations
  • Contractors should have the capacity to support project work with a minimum availability of approximately 15 hours per week, subject to project requirements and mutual agreement.
  • Client meetings, project discussions, and onboarding activities generally take place between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
  • Contractors should have sufficient flexibility to participate in required project-related meetings and onboarding activities during these times when engaged on an assignment.
  • Work may otherwise be completed according to the contractor's preferred schedule, provided project timelines and deliverables are met.

Location: Remote (any city, province or state in the U.S.A & Canada)
