Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Strategic Initiatives Sr Manager to support the critical mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role provides a unique opportunity to support our VA customers to ensure the excellent performance of our diverse IT mission; partner with our Business Development, Capture and Solution teams to grow the business; and ensure we retain and attract exceptional talent.  As the advisor for this business, you will set strategic directions while aligning with the broader business area, sector and division strategies to ensure we exceed the needs and expectations of our customers, employees, and business.

GDIT is one of the largest IT services providers serving the U.S. government.  We are a leader in providing cloud, cyber, data & analytics, enterprise IT, application, and mission services to our customers.  This position provides an outstanding opportunity to play a leadership role as we work together to apply the breadth of resources available in our organization to critical technology and mission challenges across VA.  

This position is a remote role but must be willing and able to travel up to 25% to customer and senior leadership meetings. 

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Provide customer and technical expertise for the VA ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and employee engagement.

  • Drive growth – in collaboration with the Business Area, Sector, and Division resources.

  • Provides strategic support, leadership and value to pursue new VA Technology opportunities

  • Identifies, develops and prioritizes opportunities for VA Benefits systems

  • Ensure that proposals or deliverables on a program align with the agency’s priorities and GDIT’s processes 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships in industry.  Including close relationships with VA customers, partners, IT management, and staff (where appropriate) to provide cost effective systems that meet customer needs.

  • Ensure alignment with Business Area, Sector and Division, and Company strategy and objectives.

What You’ll Need to Succeed (required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, science, or related discipline. 

  • 15+ years of experience leading enterprise level technology programs or portfolios of similar or greater size of the VA with a strong understanding of VA’s healthcare & benefits mission, organizational dynamics, operational environment, and technology challenges.

  • Ability to grow GDIT’s business at the VA, leveraging past VA leadership expertise to identify emerging mission needs, shape differentiated technology solutions/strategies and utilize established trusted relationships that contribute to Federal Health Division business growth.

  • Experience coordinating, managing and supervising the activities related to the VA Account operations and strategy.

  • Experience effectively engaging with executive and senior leadership, including exceptional communication to customers and board-level briefings.

  • Experience thriving in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

  • Experience motivating teams to perform exceptionally over long stretches of time and in challenging situations.

What Would Be Even Better (preferred):

  • Master’s degree.

  • 15+ years of experience supporting VA technology outcomes.

  • Long-standing working relationships with current VA leaders and decisions makers.

  • Experience developing budgets with a focus on achieving business unit objectives 

  • 10+ years of experience supporting large Federal government contracts or benefits systems is desired  

  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant corporate and government regulations and standards.

The likely salary range for this position is $148,750 - $201,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
