Job description

About the role

We're looking for a Project Manager to join our PMO team and run deployment projects from kickoff to go-live. This is a foundational role on the team — most of your work (about 70%) will be standard store deployments, with the rest split between medium-complexity, multi-location rollouts and stretch projects that grow you toward more complex work.

You'll do well here if you like owning things end-to-end, you keep customers updated without being asked, and you flag risks early rather than waiting for them to grow. You're organized, you follow process, and you're comfortable juggling vendors, equipment, and schedules across several projects at once.

You'll be the main point of contact for your own set of customer accounts — the first person they call when something needs attention. It's real ownership from day one, with a clear path to more complex deployments as you grow.

Reports to: Team Lead, PMO

Location: South Africa (Remote)

What You'll Do

Project Execution & Customer Management

  • Run several deployment projects at once, independently, from kickoff through go-live
  • Serve as the main point of contact for your customer accounts, with regular updates
  • Own project admin, documentation, and coordination end-to-end
  • Manage project budgets, coordinate resources, and keep milestones on track with urgency
  • Look for ways to add value to the customer relationship beyond the immediate ask
  • Prepare status reports, dashboards, and project summaries for internal and external stakeholders

Deployment Coordination & Problem Solving

  • Keep every part of the deployment on track — site surveys, equipment shipping, vendor coordination, and installation scheduling
  • Act as the first point of escalation for your accounts and projects
  • Troubleshoot routine deployment issues yourself; bring complex ones to Senior PMs or the Team Lead with your analysis attached
  • Manage equipment returns and RMA processes, and handle vendor relationships on standard projects independently
  • Keep documentation current across all RetailNext platforms
  • Generate accurate project quotes using our established pricing models

Process & Documentation

  • Keep detailed, accurate project documentation and complete deployment checklists on every project
  • Update project tracking systems with accurate, timely information
  • Meet or beat PMO KPIs and follow PMO SLAs — customer response times, quote turnaround, shipping coordination, SmartOps updates, and internal communication
  • Document lessons learned and contribute ideas that improve how the team works

Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with approved installation vendors on scheduling and requirements
  • Review vendor quotes for accuracy and fit with our standard pricing
  • Monitor vendor performance and flag quality or schedule issues early

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 2–3 years of project management or coordination experience
  • Solid understanding of deployment processes
  • Working knowledge of SmartOps, Google Workspace, and project management tools
  • Basic understanding of retail technology, hardware requirements, and vendor management
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools

Valued but Not Required

  • Customer service experience
  • Experience with multi-location or multi-store rollouts
  • Exposure to more complex deployment projects

What We Offer

  • Own real deployment projects end-to-end from day one, not just shadow work
  • Clear growth path to Senior PM as you take on more complex, higher-stakes deployments
  • Visible role at the heart of customer success — your work directly shapes whether customers thrive on RetailNext
  • Monthly Recharge Day
  • Holiday Exchange Program
  • Best Self Benefit Program
  • Medical Insurance
  • Work from Anywhere up to 90 days
