Qt Group develops cross-platform tools used by software teams across many industries. You will join the Design Tools Unit (DTU), helping create consistent and polished experiences for designers and developers within the Qt ecosystem.
We are hiring a Regular or Senior Visual Designer who combines strong visual skills with a structured approach and experience working within established design systems.
At both levels, you will:
Design product screens, components, and interfaces, with close attention to visual hierarchy, colour, typography, and spacing.
Work within Qt’s shared design system, using existing components and design tokens consistently.
Identify and communicate edge cases or gaps in the design system.
Create visual materials for marketing, documentation, and learning content.
Collaborate closely with UX designers and engineers.
Clearly communicate design decisions and implementation expectations.
Support engineers throughout the delivery process, including during implementation—not only at handoff.
Translate UX concepts and interaction decisions into polished, consistent visual designs.
Maintain a consistent visual quality across different product surfaces.
At the Senior level, you will additionally:
Set and maintain the visual direction for assigned product areas.
Help the wider team understand and consistently apply established visual standards.
Contribute to the development and governance of the shared design system.
Review component usage, identify inconsistencies, and document design decisions.
Propose improvements to the component library when genuine product needs are not covered by the existing system.
Ensure visual consistency across multiple products as they evolve.
Identify dependencies and potential design conflicts across adjacent product areas.
Involve UX partners early and help shape how UX and visual design work together during the design process.
At least 2 years of experience in visual and UI design.
A portfolio demonstrating strong visual execution across product interfaces and supporting visual assets.
Experience working with an established, multi-product design system.
Good command of Figma.
Ability to collaborate effectively with UX designers and engineers.
Ability to explain design intent clearly during handoff and implementation.
Confidence in translating UX intent into visual design without unnecessarily redefining the interaction.
At least 5 years of experience in visual and UI design.
A portfolio demonstrating both strong hands-on design skills and the ability to maintain quality at a system level.
Proven experience contributing to and governing a large, multi-product design system.
Professional-level Figma skills.
Ability to communicate and justify design decisions to engineers throughout the delivery process.
Experience working within larger product teams, with responsibility for cross-product consistency and systemic design thinking.
Ability to understand how individual design decisions affect related products, components, and workflows.
Experience designing developer-facing, technical, or complex digital products.
