Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Work Location: Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), Port Hueneme, CA

Pay: Up to $34.60/hour + $7.45/hour (Health & Wellness Benefit through the Union)

(SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O&M); weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. We are currently looking to hire a qualified Operations Welder to provide support to the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division’s (NAWCWD) PTMO (Pacific Target and Marine Operations program at at all levels of operations fabrication and repair, dockside at NBVC Port Hueneme, CA.

Primary Duties:

  • Main duties will be supporting all levels of operations fabrication and repair, dockside at NBVC Port Hueneme, CA.
  • Required to work in, on, and around various types of seaborne targets and marine equipment while performing any one, or a combination, of the following: welding aluminum, steel and plastic components together using gas welding, MIG/TIG, brazing and arc welding.
  • Perform small engine repair and other assigned mechanical duties.
  • Knowledge of gasoline inboard/outboard marine engines (any type), generator systems and related marine auxiliary equipment is desired.
  • Assist in diagnosing marine engine malfunctions and help make repairs to restore equipment to an operating condition.
  • Use of powered hand tools is mandatory.
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, drawings and work orders is mandatory.
  • Serve as a crew member on various sized vessels.
  • Other duties as assigned to include (but not limited to) operating forklifts, HAZMAT, safe and effective use of PPE and small hand tools.

Work Conditions:

  • Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Outdoor duties may be performed on shore and afloat on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet.
  • Requires the ability to work in a seaborne environment with some shift work at remote locations with occasional over-night assignments.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Travel to remote working locations for mission support is required and routine deployments on support and target vessels may be required INCONUS and occasionally OCONUS.
  • Overtime required at times to support operations.
  • Work Schedule currently is a 9/80 schedule (Mon – Thurs, 9 hours, alternating Fridays, 1 work 8 hrs. 1 off)
Requirements

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical school training or specialized training in the appropriate field required or a total of three-five (3-5) years’ experience in performing the stated functions may replace education.
  • Experience in a military environment (E4+) or on a military facility preferred, but not required.
  • Basic understanding of Computer/Networking/MS Office.
  • Works well with others as a member of a team.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
