Position Overview
We are seeking a Clinical Product Data Steward to support the creation, maintenance, and ongoing management of product master data within a Clinical R&D environment.
These individuals will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the structures, hierarchies, naming conventions, and relationships associated with pharmaceutical products as they progress through the clinical development lifecycle.
The ideal candidates will understand how product data changes as a molecule matures through development and eventually progresses toward commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and curate clinical product master data and associated product structures.
- Establish and maintain product hierarchies, naming conventions, relationships, and master data attributes.
- Ensure related molecules, compounds, formulations, products, and other relevant entities are appropriately linked within the master data environment.
- Process requests to create, update, modify, or correct product master data.
- Maintain accurate and consistent product information as products evolve throughout clinical development.
- Understand how the structure and definition of a pharmaceutical product changes from early molecule development through later-stage clinical development and commercialization.
- Partner with Clinical R&D, product, data, business, and technical stakeholders to understand and execute data requirements.
- Follow established data governance, data quality, and stewardship standards.
- Identify data quality, relationship, or structural issues and partner with the Clinical Product Data Management Lead and appropriate stakeholders to resolve them.
- Support ongoing improvements to product data structures, processes, and governance standards.
- Assist with the transition of product data management responsibilities from the incumbent team and contribute to establishing the new operating model.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant experience in master data management, data stewardship, data curation, data governance, product data management, or a related data function.
- At least 1–2 years of experience supporting product master data within a pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, or Clinical R&D environment.
- Familiarity with the pharmaceutical product development lifecycle and how products evolve throughout clinical development.
- Hands-on experience maintaining product hierarchies, naming conventions, relationships, and master data structures.
- Strong understanding of data quality and data governance principles.
- Ability to accurately manage detailed and evolving product information.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and consistency.
- Ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and querying data is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ideal Background
The strongest candidates will have hands-on experience maintaining clinical product master data for a pharmaceutical or biotech organization, particularly data associated with molecules, compounds, formulations, clinical products, and their evolution throughout the development lifecycle.
Direct Clinical R&D product master data experience is strongly preferred over general master data experience.
