SOFTWARE DEVELOPER SENIOR

We are seeking a Full Stack Java Developer to design and build Java‑based microservices, REST APIs, ingestion pipelines, and reporting solutions. The role includes developing JasperReports, modernizing PACER reporting, writing SQL for data and reconciliation workflows, and executing comprehensive testing across APIs, data pipelines, and reporting outputs. The ideal candidate will support end‑to‑end development, testing, troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, scalable, and audit‑ready solutions.

As a Software Developer Senior, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of Bureau of Fiscal Service - Department of Treasury. You will play a crucial role in Modernization of Legacy Applications.
 

● Design and develop Java microservices, REST APIs, and data ingestion pipelines
● Build JasperReports, modernize PACER reports, and implement reconciliation workflows
● Write SQL for data queries, aggregations, and cross‑system data validation
● Execute API, batch, and end‑to‑end testing across ingestion and reporting workflows
● Support troubleshooting, UAT, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Software Developer Senior must have:
● Education: Bachelor Degree in Computers or related field
● Experience: 10+ years of related experience
● Technical skills: Full Stack Java Developer skilled in Java microservices, REST APIs, data ingestion pipelines, SQL, JasperReports, and end‑to‑end testing.

● US citizenship or LPR required

● Role requirements: Collaborate with Stakeholders, Legacy development team, Business Users, Vendors and interfacing applications

Key Responsibilities

Java & Microservices Development
• Design and develop Java‑based REST APIs and stateless microservices using Javalin
• Build JSON models, validation logic, transformation workflows, and ingestion pipelines (SFTP, batch)
• Integrate with Datacom/CICS systems via JDBC or REST gateways
• Implement structured error handling, logging, and traceability
• Develop unit and integration tests and support troubleshooting across environments

Reporting & Data Processing
• Build and maintain JasperReports templates, sub‑reports, and merged outputs
• Modernize PACER reporting, reconciliation logic, and monthly report workflows
• Write SQL for data queries, aggregations, reconciliation checks, and cross‑system data blends
• Automate recurring reporting cycles and generate outputs in CSV, XML, and PDF

Testing & Quality Assurance
• Execute unit, integration, API, batch, and end‑to‑end testing
• Validate ingestion formats (Connect:Direct, SFTP, CSV, fixed‑width, XML, JSON)
• Test REST APIs for schema accuracy, error handling, and performance
• Coordinate UAT, lead defect triage, and maintain test documentation and traceability

Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in Java development, microservices, or REST API design
• Hands‑on experience with JSON modeling, data validation, and transformation logic
• Strong SQL skills including joins, aggregations, and reconciliation queries
• Experience building reports using JasperReports or similar reporting frameworks
• Solid understanding of batch processing, SFTP ingestion, or file‑based workflows
• Experience with unit, integration, API, and data‑pipeline testing
• Ability to troubleshoot complex application, data, or report issues across environments
• Strong communication skills and experience working with cross‑functional teams

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Javalin or other lightweight Java REST frameworks
• Familiarity with PACER reporting, reconciliation processes, or finance‑related data flows
• Prior experience integrating with Datacom/CICS systems via JDBC or REST gateways
• Exposure to Connect:Direct, CSV, fixed‑width, XML, or JSON ingestion pipelines
• Experience with automated scheduling/orchestration tools (e.g., Autosys, Control‑M, Jenkins, etc.)
• Knowledge of logging, traceability, audit frameworks, or compliance‑driven workflows
• Experience supporting UAT or collaborating closely with SMEs in accounting or reporting domains

The likely salary range for this position is $136,000 - $184,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
