Gila Agreements Project Coordinator
Status: Full Time, Salaried
Location: Within an hour and a half of Silver City or Truth or Consequences, New Mexico
Reports to: Southern New Mexico Project Manager
Supervisors: May supervise seasonal or part-time field crews
Key Relationships: Restoration Specialists, Geo-spatial team, Restoration Technicians
Salary: $55,000-65,000 annually + benefits
Anticipated Start Date: November 2026.
The Project Coordinator will support restoration efforts in the 2022 Black Fire scar located within the Gila National Forest. Their work focus will be post-fire recovery efforts within the 325,000-acre Black Fire scar and adjacent impacted areas of Gila National Forest. This position is remote/work from home and will require travel to field sites and partner meetings. Remote work requires reliable internet access. Work may require overnight camping in front and backcountry settings, potentially for extended periods.
Primary Responsibilities and Expectations
The Gila Agreements Project Coordinator reports to the Southern New Mexico Project Manager and works closely with other members of the Habitat Protection and Restoration program to support planning, development, and implementation of Black Fire recovery priority projects. A majority of the planning area is within the Aldo Leopold Wilderness.
This position is grant-funded until June 2028. Additional project funds may extend the position well beyond 2028, but applicants should not assume this is a permanent position.
This position is ideal for a restoration practitioner, biologist, hydrologist, Wilderness professional, or conservationist with interest and experience in planning and/or implementing watershed restoration and natural resource improvement projects.
