💊 Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization & Patient Support Specialist

Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician who is passionate about helping patients access the medications they need? In this role, you'll serve as a critical resource for patients, providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies by helping remove barriers to treatment, facilitating medication approvals, securing financial assistance, and supporting medication adherence.

🌟 What You'll Do

Patient Access & Insurance Support

✅ Communicate directly with insurance companies to facilitate medication approvals.

✅ Assist patients with managing their pharmacy insurance claims.

✅ Work with clinician offices to support prior authorization requests and medication access.

✅ Research and secure financial assistance opportunities through foundations, manufacturers, and other funding sources to help patients overcome high-cost copay barriers.

Pharmacy Operations & Patient Care

✅ Navigate pharmacy operating systems to input data, adjudicate test claims, process refills, and develop action plans for follow-up.

✅ Review prescriptions with physicians' offices to support optimal patient care.

✅ Communicate directly with patients via phone to support medication adherence and compliance.

✅ Collaborate closely with pharmacists and pharmacy liaisons to deliver a coordinated, high-quality patient care experience.

Documentation & Process Improvement

✅ Communicate effectively across databases, electronic medical records, and email systems to document patient concerns, prior authorization status, and financial assistance needs.

✅ Maintain complete and accurate records of patient communications.

✅ Manage, organize, and update relevant data within database systems.

✅ Research and analyze information to support strategic decision-making.

✅ Apply observations and recommendations to improve operations, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.

✅ Identify trends, resolve issues, recommend improvements, and implement changes.

✅ Participate actively in process improvement initiatives.

✅ Act as a value-added business partner to stakeholders across the organization.

✅ Protect organizational value by maintaining confidentiality of information.

✅ Maintain professional knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and industry networking.

✅ Minimal in-state or out-of-state travel may be required.

✅ Perform other duties as assigned.

🎓 Qualifications

Required Experience
  • 1+ year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • High School Diploma or GED required
Required Licensure & Certification

We are seeking experienced, state-registered Pharmacy Technicians.

  • State of Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician active license.
  • PTCB or NHA national certification.
  • If additional licensure is required, the successful candidate will commit to obtaining the required credential(s) within a mutually agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon meeting all applicable licensure and certification requirements.
