Sr Staff Attorney - LM07DE

The Hartford currently has an in-house remote opportunity for a Senior Staff Attorney to litigate cases in the New York City area.  This position is an ideal fit for an attorney with litigation experience in No-Fault claims, property damage claims and motor-vehicle accidents, with the opportunity to handle more complex matters, in a collegial and collaborative environment.  The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to independently handle cases. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Independently handle lawsuits involving No-Fault claims, property damage claims and motor-vehicle accidents, with the opportunity to handle more complex matters.

Prepare pleadings, written discovery and motions without supervision.  

Conduct legal research and independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients. 

Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues. 

Provide effective and timely communications, legal advice and other services to claims customers and clients on legal and factual issues in a technology driven environment. 

Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures. 

Prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Qualified Senior Staff Attorney candidates will possess the following qualifications: 

Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of legal litigation experience. 

Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and license to practice in New York State.  

Knowledge of New York Supreme and Civil courts. 

Member in good standing of New York State Bar. 

Strong legal research and writing skills. 

Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities.   

Strong communication, computer and technological skills, and the ability to quickly leverage new software are required. 

Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude.

This position is a remote work opportunity with the option to work in our New York City office. 

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$132,400 - $198,600
