Job description

Description: Creative Writer, India

Position Overview

Client is looking for a versatile, creative writer to join the Product Merchandising team. This is a great fit for an entertainment-obsessed generalist who is passionate about content and storytelling, enjoys playing with language, and thrives in collaborative editing cycles. We're looking for a skilled writer who is an expert in Indian media and entertainment, with a proven ability to write and edit world-class creative content in English.

If you're excited to contribute to a team of content experts who thrive on candid feedback and drive global conversations about entertainment, this is a dream job. This is a remote, full-time contract for 6 months, expected to be approximately 40 hours per week. We will prioritize candidates located in India.

Responsibilities

Write culturally relevant product copy in English for India, including collection and row naming, email copy, and push notifications.
Write English-language synopses for Indian movies and TV shows, with a focus on new formats such as daily drops or last-minute deals with quick turnaround times.
Partner closely with local Product Merchandising colleagues — including the Managing Editor, Copy Editor, Creative Merchandiser, and Launch Manager — to ensure your copy meets market needs and aligns with evolving project schedules.
Embody editorial principles to create accurate, inclusive product copy nuanced enough to resonate with different audiences.
Contribute to documentation for local writing standards, style guides, and workflows.

Requirements

Full working proficiency in English
Deep knowledge of the Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu entertainment landscapes, with proficiency in one or more of these languages highly desired
Understanding of India's social and political landscape
Responsiveness to shifting timelines and turnaround times
Experience writing synopses for streamers or broadcasters, or editing articles, blog posts, reviews, or feature stories about film and TV
Experience writing short-form product copy or taglines for push notifications, UI copy, or email messaging
Mastery of AP style and strong attention to detail
Research skills to gather context on titles and quickly synthesize information from a variety of sources
A selfless approach to contributing to a world-class editorial team
Eagerness to embrace a culture of candid feedback
Ability to work autonomously and hit deadlines across multiple projects simultaneously
