Job Description:

At Job Duck, we are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Legal Assistant or Paralegal to provide hands-on support to attorneys and existing paralegal staff. This role combines legal assistant, legal secretary, and substantive paralegal responsibilities across litigation and business law matters. The successful candidate will help prepare legal documents, coordinate filings, manage deadlines, communicate with relevant parties, and keep cases moving forward. This opportunity is ideal for a proactive, dependable, and organized professional who takes ownership of assignments and identifies ways to contribute without requiring constant direction. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and organize pleadings, motions, correspondence, discovery materials, and other case-related documents
  • Assist with preparing, organizing, and filing legal documents
  • Assist with scheduling, calendaring, deadlines, hearings, meetings, and other case-related activities
  • Assist with court filings and maintain accurate filing records
  • Draft and proofread correspondence, emails, and other legal documents
  • Make and receive professional phone calls concerning cases, courts, attorneys, and clients
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical case files
  • Follow up with courts, clients, attorneys, and other parties to help matters move forward
  • Take initiative to identify additional tasks and areas in which the legal team may require support
  • Assist with discovery preparation, document organization, and case management
  • Support attorneys and paralegals with case preparation and general litigation responsibilities
  • Perform other legal and administrative duties as needed
  • Coordinate with courts, attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties
  • Monitor deadlines and help ensure assigned tasks are completed on time
  • Provide daily legal and administrative support to attorneys and paralegals

Requirements:

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Secretary in a law firm environment preferred

• Experience supporting attorneys with legal and administrative responsibilities

• Strong understanding of legal office procedures and case management

• Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities

• Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities effectively

• Strong computer and document management skills

• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new systems and procedures

• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment

• Previous litigation experience, particularly in Florida, is preferred

• Experience with contracts, corporate matters, business litigation, or commercial litigation is a plus

Software and Tools

• Florida Court E-Filing Portal preferred

• Legal case management systems

• Document management systems

Work Shift:

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM [EST][EDT] (United States of America)
