Role:

The Director, US Vaccines Contracting Strategy will work across the US Vaccines portfolio to lead the development, execution and evolution of the vaccine portfolio contracting strategy across channels including Physician Buying Groups (PBGs) and other vaccines-specific channels in the independent HCP space. The Director, US Vaccines Contracting Strategy will lead a cross-functional matrix team including the contract strategy and contract development teams, vaccine brand team leadership and broader US Vaccine pricing and contracting team to develop and execute contracting strategies specific to the US Vaccines portfolio.  Additionally, this role will lead contract pull through strategies and analytics to assess the effectiveness of these strategies across the US Vaccines portfolio. The role requires strong business acumen, deep knowledge of drug pricing and contracting, solid understanding of an increasingly complex vaccine marketplace, strong team collaboration and proven matrix leadership skills

What You Will Achieve

In this role, you will:

  • Lead development of portfolio contracting strategies across cross-functional stakeholders as well as securing endorsement with senior leadership
  • Function as the subject matter expert regarding vaccine contracting on behalf of the US Vaccines Business; share pricing and contracting knowledge and insights across teams; contribute to broader vaccine business unit planning and strategy development
  • Collaborate with the vaccine brand teams to align contracting strategy to the overall brand strategy and contracting pull-through initiatives
  • Lead execution strategies for customer facing colleagues including Vaccine Account Directors, National Account Directors, Vaccines Account Managers and Independent Vaccine Contract Managers to implement the contracting strategy; solicit and act on feedback to optimize pricing and contracting strategy
  • Monitor and seek to continuously improve the operational effectiveness of the overall vaccine contracting process in close collaboration with US Market Access Contract Strategy team
  • Lead matrixed team including Account and/or Trade leadership, USMA, Legal, and Digital to implement strategies and align on contracting issue resolution

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Degree Required; MBA Preferred
  • 8+ or more years of pharmaceutical pricing and/or contracting experience
  • Experience leading vaccine specific pricing and contracting functions to include working with [Retail, Health Systems, Physician Buying Groups (PBGs), Integrated Systems Group Purchasing Organizations and other vaccines-specific channels]
  • Demonstrated track record of strong business acumen, strategic thinking and project management skills in complex marketplace
  • Proven track record of success with effectively leading a highly matrixed team, balancing diverse cross-functional perspectives, strong problem solving, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • High level change agility, flexibility and comfort with addressing and adapting to ambiguity
  • Excellent commercial, financial and analytical skills
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with brand and customer-facing leadership and peers, develop and coach others (including customer facing leadership), oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and executing vaccine portfolio pricing and contracting strategies in a competitive environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including sales leadership, project leadership and matrix leadership
  • Demonstrated account management experience in complex business-to-business sales

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $189,200.00 to $315,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
