JOB POSTING 

POSITION: Cybersecurity Essentials Instructor

HOURS: Contract

LOCATION: Canada

HOURLY RATE: $30/HR

REPORTS TO:  Manager, Social Enterprise

SCHEDULE: 5 hours/week on Saturdays or 2.5 hours/week for twice a week on weekday evenings

START DATE: Immediately

Program Overview

We are seeking an experienced and engaging instructor to facilitate the Cybersecurity Essentials course. The successful candidate will possess subject matter expertise and practical industry experience, enabling them to deliver high-quality, learner-centered instruction to adult students.

The course includes both theoretical and hands-on training, requiring proficiency in industry-standard software applications. Instructors will be responsible for creating an inclusive learning environment, delivering course content, supporting student success, and evaluating learner progress. The instructor will have access to Cisco courses to effectively support student learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and interactive classroom, virtual, or hybrid instruction.
  • Facilitate learning using current industry practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Prepare and deliver lesson plans, instructional materials, and practical exercises.
  • Assess student learning through assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams, as applicable.
  • Provide timely feedback and support to learners.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and course records.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports adult learners.
  • Stay informed of current industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Post-secondary education and/or equivalent industry experience in the relevant subject area.
  • Demonstrated teaching or coaching experience with newcomers and adult learners.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with relevant industry software and tools.
  • Current knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Professional certifications will be considered an asset

Preferred Attributes

  • Passion for teaching and mentoring newcomers.
  • Experience delivering virtual and/or hybrid training programs.
  • Ability to adapt instructional approaches to meet diverse learner needs.
