Job description

Build Next-Gen Transportation Logistics Tech: Front-End React Engineer

Are you ready to build high-impact production UIs from scratch using modern React, TypeScript, and AI-augmented tools? Join a modern engineering environment where you will replace a legacy desktop application with a fast, browser-based React experience, shipping functional software directly to energy dispatchers every single week!

About Us:
Trimble is a global technology company that connects the physical and digital worlds, transforming the ways work gets done. With relentless innovation in precise positioning, modeling and data analytics, Trimble enables essential industries including construction, geospatial and transportation. Whether it's helping customers build and maintain infrastructure, design and construct buildings, optimize global supply chains or map the world, Trimble is at the forefront, driving productivity and progress.

In the Transportation & Logistics segment, our solutions make it safer, simpler and more efficient to move freight—bringing together a global network of shippers, carriers, brokers and 3PLs.

What Makes This Role Interesting:
In this role, you will help build the next-generation TMW Suite Dispatch UI from scratch, directly shaping intuitive React interfaces that fuel dispatchers depend on to run daily bulk fuel and petroleum operations.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Build responsive, accessible React screens using TypeScript, Redux Toolkit, and MUI X DataGrid within a collaborative pod model.
  • Integrate frontend interfaces with backend API layers (CloudHub/OData/CHC) to connect real customer SQL database workflows seamlessly.
  • Ship working, fully tested software on a weekly demo cycle using Playwright and axe-core for end-to-end quality and accessibility.
  • Create intuitive user experiences for complex dispatcher needs, including drag-and-drop planning, real-time map synchronization, and performance-tuned data grids.
  • Leverage modern AI tools like Cursor to accelerate development, build test scaffolding, and refine team component libraries.

Your Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in building production React applications with TypeScript
  • Strong component architecture: you think in composable, testable components with clean prop contracts and proper state management
  • Experience with data-heavy UIs: grids, tables, filters, server-side pagination, real-time updates
  • Comfort with REST/OData API integration — you’ve wired up front-ends to real backends and debugged the full request/response chain
  • CSS/styling proficiency: responsive layouts, design system integration, consistent cross-browser rendering
  • Git workflow fluency: trunk-based development, feature branches, clean commit history, PR reviews
  • Ability to work in a tight collaboration with one other developer and an embedded generalist, shipping weekly

Bonus Points For:

  • Drag-and-drop implementation experience (dnd-kit, react-beautiful-dnd, or similar)
  • Experience with AI coding assistants Cursor in daily development workflows
  • Familiarity with MUI (Material UI) component library and theming
  • Previous experience modernizing legacy desktop applications into browser-based UIs
  • Background in .NET/C# OData APIs (helpful for debugging the API layer, not required for the role)
  • Logistics, transportation, or energy industry domain knowledge  you understand what a dispatcher does and why their screen matters

Location: UK, Remote
