Job description

Who we are

With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.

What we need

Symbotic is seeking a highly motivated NPI Project Specialist to join our Supply Chain organization within the Strategic Launch Team. This role supports new product introductions, product launches, retrofits, and other cross-functional initiatives by coordinating procurement activities, executing established sourcing strategies, tracking cost and schedule performance, and identifying risks early. The NPI Project Specialist will partner closely with Engineering, Program Management, Category Management, Sourcing Operations, and suppliers to keep procurement activities aligned with program milestones and support product cost development throughout the development lifecycle.

What we do

Our global procurement organization partners closely with the business to build category strategies that drive competitive advantage. We own strategic sourcing and supplier agreements end-to-end — from commercial and pricing structures through supplier relationship management — while our sourcing operations ensure disciplined execution at scale. Our scope spans the full lifecycle: procuring robotics, structural, and automation components at the core of our systems, sourcing third-party partners for installation and deployment, and ensuring robust aftersales support once systems are live — all in service of Symbotic's commitment to reimagining the supply chain and transforming the movement of goods through intelligent automation, while bringing unparalleled value to the customer. Every decision is grounded in a relentless focus on total cost of ownership, balancing speed and rigor to drive the best outcomes for the business.

What you'll do

  • Support program-specific sourcing plans for NPI, retrofit, and other cross-functional initiatives in alignment with established sourcing strategies.

  • Serve as a procurement partner to Engineering and Program Management throughout the development lifecycle, helping keep sourcing activities aligned with program milestones and launch schedules.

  • Coordinate with Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Sourcing Operations, Engineering, and suppliers to track sourcing requirements, decisions, and dependencies.

  • Track program-level procurement status, including supplier readiness, cost, schedule, material risks, and key sourcing milestones.

  • Identify and escalate sourcing, supplier, cost, and schedule risks, partnering with stakeholders to support mitigation and resolution.

  • Support Engineering in aligning designs with approved and preferred suppliers before designs are finalized.

  • Gather supplier quotes, pricing, and cost inputs to support product cost models, value engineering activities, and sourcing decisions.

  • Ensure aftersales considerations, including spare parts, serviceability, warranty, and lifecycle cost, are incorporated into development-phase sourcing activities.

  • Support multiple concurrent programs and adjust priorities as product development and launch schedules shift.

  • Support the transition of programs from development into steady-state procurement and sourcing operations.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or project/program management.

  • Experience supporting NPI, product development, or cross-functional programs in a technical or manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge of sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing processes.

  • Strong project management, analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems; SAP preferred.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills preferred.

Our Environment

  • Up to 10-20% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • This role works cross-functionally across engineering, program management, and procurement teams and may require flexibility to align with project meeting schedules.

  • Employees may be required to use a personal credit card for business travel expenses, which are reimbursed based on the program guidelines. Eligible employees may receive a corporate credit card based on role and travel requirements, but a personal credit card may be needed during onboarding until the corporate card is issued.
