Responsibilities:
  • SolarWinds, ScienceLogic, Splunk, SNMP, or equivalent monitoring training – Desired for interpreting infrastructure alerts, system-health conditions, and performance anomalies.\
  • Data-center operations and server-room safety training – Desired for rack-and-stack activities, power and cabling work, physical inspections, equipment handling, and controlled data-center operations.
  • Hardware break/fix and field-replaceable-unit training – Desired hands-on experience replacing memory, CPUs, disk drives, motherboards, expansion cards, and power supplies, followed by successful server restart and health validation.
  • Linux/Unix server-maintenance command proficiency – Required practical skill in checking filesystem capacity, identifying large/old/duplicate files, calculating directory sizes, and performing other maintenance diagnostics.
  • Monitoring and maintenance tool familiarity – Desired experience with tools identified in the maintenance requirements, including BigFix, SNMP, GitHub, SolarWinds, Splunk, QRadar, EnCase, ScienceLogic, Puppet, IPMI, iLO, and iDRAC.
  • Preventive and emergent maintenance planning – Ability to schedule routine maintenance without disrupting normal workflow, recognize emergent maintenance needs, select an appropriate response, and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
  • Vendor maintenance coordination training/experience – Desired experience coordinating field-engineer visits, validating systems after warranty maintenance, and updating associated tickets.
Qualifications:
  • RAID and enterprise storage training – Desired for disk health monitoring, RAID troubleshooting, disk replacement, SMART status validation, and storage integrity.
  • Red Hat Satellite training – Desired for Linux infrastructure inventory, patch-level verification, and system lifecycle support.
  • BigFix training – Desired for patch-status validation, endpoint compliance, and infrastructure maintenance activities.
  • Ansible and Puppet familiarity/training – Desired for configuration-management awareness, automation support, and validation of server-management agents.
  • ServiceNow and CMDB training – Desired for incident, maintenance, asset, configuration, and work-record documentation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CompTIA Server+ – Desired for enterprise server hardware installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, storage, and lifecycle support.
  • CompTIA A+ – Desired for foundational hardware diagnostics, component replacement, peripheral support, and troubleshooting.
  • CompTIA Linux+ or equivalent Linux administration training – Desired for Linux command-line maintenance, filesystem analysis, storage utilization, and basic OS troubleshooting.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Linux administration training – Desired for RHEL system maintenance, storage, filesystems, services, and troubleshooting.
  • Oracle Solaris Administration training or certification – Desired for Solaris server maintenance, zpools, and Unix infrastructure support.
  • Dell, HPE, Oracle, or equivalent enterprise server hardware training – Desired for hardware diagnostics, firmware maintenance, component replacement, and vendor-specific server management.
  • iDRAC, iLO, IPMI, or equivalent out-of-band management training – Desired for remote hardware monitoring, diagnostics, power management, and recovery.

Education:

  • AA or two year technical school degree and 3+ years’ work experience
  • Four (4) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (7 years total)

Clearance: 

  • The ability to pass a Tier 2/Moderate Background Investigation
