Job description

This is a remote position.

Business Development Manager

Are you an Account Manager or BDM with knowledge of video production and a passion for fighting climate change? If so this is an outstanding role with a funded UK start-up looking to support NFP organisations in getting their message across.

Our client helps organisations dedicated to tackling the climate and nature crisis create impact with video storytelling at scale, both remotely using tech they already own and by hiring our film crews at international conferences.

They have worked with over 230 climate and nature organisations in more than 30 countries since they started in 2024 including Planetary Guardians, Green Climate Fund, We Mean Business Coalition and UNFCCC High-level Climate Champions.

They are seeking a senior account manager to help them to grow their business. You will gain an understanding of your clients' organisation and communication goals. You will start the creative brief process for each project, effectively handing over early creative diagnosis to a project manager. You will win and grow new accounts from warm leads - there is no requirement for completely cold approaches either currently or in the foreseeable future (although if you have this capability and are open to doing so, that would also be welcome!). They have many warm relationships, enquiries, and the means to be referred into new accounts in existing networks. They do not currently have capacity to properly nurture these relationships - that's what you will be doing! You will have input into the business's strategic and creative direction. You will have the personality to work within a nimble, scale-up environment and self-start. Their work sometimes influences international policy. This is a chance to work within a business where impact is the first goal.

You will be selling video production recording services of potential client events and presence at global conferences. Clients are/will be not-for-profits with an active interest in climate change.

Must haves:

  • UK-based (or could legally be part of UK payroll) - remote-based with the potential for foreign travel

  • Strong internet connection and good quality laptop and phone

  • 6 years' experience in account management minimum in video production, and/or event management, and/or comms, and/or social media/content and/or marketing/advertising space

  • Strong understanding of Google Workspace and CRMs like Salesforce, Hubspot etc

  • Strong, provable track record of developing new business, and growing existing accounts

  • An understanding of and experience in the video and content production process, including pre-production, production and post-production as well as narrative/story and social media

  • High intelligence is vital to the role

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working with NGOs

  • Experience working internationally and/or with international clients across a broad spectrum of culture, nationality and geography

  • Experience and understanding of the COP process, UN conferences and other major climate and nature conferences like New York and London Climate Action weeks

  • Video editing - preferably Adobe

  • On the pulse of the latest trends in video and content, from new production tools to styles of content and story trends

  • Working with Salesforce specifically - campaigns, reports etc.

They are an equal opportunities employer. Indeed, we believe strongly in building as diverse a working culture as possible.

The starting salary is estimated to be around £65k + uncapped commission, but this is dependent on experience levels and capabilities. There will be an initial period of 2-3 months from start date where you will be working as a freelance contractor on a daily rate of around £250-£300 (outside of IR35) before being taken onto the payroll full-time. At that time, the legal stakeholder pension will be offered. Commission on sales made during the initial period as a contractor will be paid in the same way as when you become employed.

Candidates can be located anywhere in the UK - this is a fully-remote position. However, my client is not in a position to engage/employ candidates located outside the UK, and also they are not able to sponsor work visas. Therefore all candidates must be located in the UK, and have the right to work unrestricted in the UK. Please do not apply is you are located outside the UK, or you will require sponsorship to work legally in the UK either now or at any time in the next 5 years.

The role offers the chance for extensive overseas travel, and also from next year the company will be offering an “escape” for employees, somewhere in Europe (TBA).

If you’re driven by mission as much as money (but you need both!) then please apply!

Salary: to £65k + commission
