Job description

WORK OPTION: The NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.

This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months. 


Position Summary:
This position is part of the Data Strategy & Analytics (“DSA”) group, delivering insights to stakeholders and empowering team decisions around the NBA’s engaged fanbase. The WNBA Team Business Strategy Analyst will be responsible for partnering with the WNBA as a primary collaborator to share best practices in and out of sports, understanding the landscape of business areas (e.g., ticketing, partnerships, marketing), and consulting teams on various data-driven projects. Ensuring a successful support model will require interfacing with strategic, legal, technical, and other experts to understand the WNBA league office's top priorities and align those with team needs.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Work with WNBA team and league counterparts to understand common problems and use those to implement a strategic support model.
  • Lead a set of cross-functional strategic and data-driven projects that support team initiatives and operations.
  • Ownership of new bedrock WNBA team reports that require consistent team engagement across various areas of the business, including ticketing, partnerships, marketing, and more.
  • Become a source for innovation in the business data space, leaning on new technology and AI capabilities to create minimally viable products for internal and team benefit.
  • Champion team innovation through sharing best practices among teams and evangelizing organic solutions provided by the league.
  • Serve as an internal and external-facing champion for WNBA team needs on League initiatives.


Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Foundational understanding of WNBA team business needs and operational requirements facing the organization.
  • Strong collaborator who can effectively operate within a matrixed organization to influence and drive results.
  • Hard-working critical thinker who can overcome challenges to meet project-based goals.
  • Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into simple and intuitive communications.
  • Technical foundation in Excel, SQL and/or other platforms to support reporting and analysis requirements.


Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in business or quantitative field
  • 2+ years of experience in consulting or stakeholder-driven roles

Salary Range:

$3,846 - $4,423 Bi-Weekly
