Job description

  • Support Zip’s growth and capital allocation decisions by evaluating and executing high-impact acquisitions, investments and strategic opportunities.
  • Bring deep transaction experience, rigorous financial and commercial judgment, and independently drive complex deals from thesis through execution.
  • Remote-first opportunity for US-based employees with the option to work in-person out of our Manhattan office

Start your adventure with Zip

Working directly with the US Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer, you’ll be the execution engine behind Zip’s corporate development agenda performing market assessments, originating, evaluating and executing corporate development activities (acquisitions, investments, portfolio actions).

You’ll own the analytical heavy-lifting on live activities: building the valuation and returns models, running diligence, pressure-testing transaction thesis, and turning it all into clear, board-grade materials and recommendations. Alongside that, you’ll support strategic reviews focused on the structural and market questions that determine strategic and capital allocation choices.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role with direct exposure to the executive team and the Board.

You will:

  • Transaction execution: lead the day-to-day execution of corporate development activities (M&A, strategic investments) from initial screening/business case development through diligence, valuation, structuring, documentation support and completion.
  • Origination & screening: build and maintain a thesis-led pipeline of strategic options, including market mapping, target profiles, preliminary valuation views and the discipline to recommend against a deal as readily as for one.
  • Financial modeling & valuation: build and own investment and transaction models (e.g. DCF, returns/IRR, accretion/dilution, sum-of-the-parts) and ensure the rigorous application of scenario and sensitivity analysis to stress-test thesis.
  • Deal structuring & negotiation support: work through deal structuring and analysis of key commercial terms; prepare the analysis that underpins negotiating positions and support the drafting and mark-up process alongside advisers.
  • Due diligence: run commercial and financial diligence work-streams end-to-end; unit economics, credit and cohort performance, market sizing, competitive dynamics and synergy assessment. This includes the management of data rooms and information requests.
  • Board & Executive materials: author the papers that support clear decision making and support the facilitation of executive briefings. This will include translating complex analysis into a clear recommendation with the reasoning visible.
  • Adviser & stakeholder coordination: run the day-to-day relationship with external advisers (e.g.  investment banks, law firms, accountants and consultants) and partner across the business with functional leaders to move initiatives from concept to execution.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration or a related field; an MBA and/or CFA is well regarded
  • 4–6 years’ experience across investment banking, private equity, corporate development, transaction advisory and/or top-tier strategy consulting
  • Hands-on involvement in M&A and investment transactions through the full deal cycle, ideally with exposure to both buy-side and sell-side processes
  • Advanced financial modeling and valuation capability, with strong discipline and model hygiene
  • Strong commercial due diligence experience across market, competitive, operational and financial dimensions
  • Proven experience leveraging AI to augment the M&A lifecycle and due diligence processes
  • Familiarity with listed-company transaction context; disclosure sensitivity, confidentiality protocols and process discipline
  • Financial services experience is required; fintech, payments or consumer lending (e.g. BNPL, unsecured credit, earned wage access) strongly preferred
  • Highly analytical and structured, with sharp strategic and problem-solving instincts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with a track record of producing executive- and board-grade materials
  • The ability to carry multiple work-streams at once and deliver to deadlines
  • Self-directed, action-oriented and high-ownership, comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving environment
